Nice going! Finding one for sale in good condition is like hitting the lottery, in my opinion. Taking out the inner "extractor" was a good thing. I always replace the steel recoil stop pin. And FYI, years ago Scott at VQ told me their target hammers for the lr and magnum models are identical. Assuming yours hasn't already been modified and VQ hasn't changed theirs that's an easy way to reduce the trigger pull.

 

Sweet! I saw one years ago on the Cabelas used rack. Didnt have much of a clue then, so I thought $600 was a bit steep for a used 1022 anything, so i passed.

Now that I am far more knowledgeable, ( addicted) , i would snatch it up like a junky

Very nice! Factory stock guns brought a premium back when they were showing up on Gunbroker regularly. Couple there right now for around $1K but some went for twice that a few years ago.

I wouldn't take $1K for either of mine. One is stock appearing but with internal mods. The other one is converted to .17 HMR.

 

Very nice..Not so much on the Scope..I got screwed by Nikon on one of mine since they no longer support their Scope line,,Or make them.

I have a competitor Marlin 922M though..I like those. Solid Built Rifle. If you like that Ruger..I think you would love the Marlin and you need one of those too..

 

Are these defect ridden guns that had to be discontinued and require care and modification or is it a good solid running gun. I am not expecting as good as the Brno/CZ semi but a no apology gun?

 

I own a Marlin 922m as well they are a man made rifle and a good shooter to boot!

Looks to be a pretty nice one. I'd recommend replacing the buffer. It's cheap and easy. You'll find that it prefers 30 grain bullets. Mine won't stabilize Federal 50s.

 

What buffer? Why not the steel one that comes with it?

I am about as far from a 1022 fanboi as you can get, but for some reason I really want the "odd" ones they made years ago. The mag version, yup, the 44 mag version....drooling, the lever version almost as bad as the 44.

I would love to find them and would sleep on the couch and be very happy if I could find them.....

Actually she would not make me sleep on the couch, but she would not be real happy if I snagged all at once.

 

I guess two out of three ain't bad. On the left, the 44 carbine, center, a 1965 five digit serial 10/22, and on the right, the 10/22 .22mag. The 44 carbine, I found at a gun for $350. The 1965 10/22 from gunbroker, and the .22mag I bought new back when they were produced. I'd always wanted a 10/22 in .22mag, years before they were even made. I walked in to an LGS one day, and there it was. $299 and it followed me home.

 

Here are my 22 magnums. Henry, Savage 93, Savage A22 mag, Remington 597 magnum, Ruger 10/22 mag and my Marlin 922m

 

Came across the Marlin camp in 45 at a gun show last weekend, guy was really trying to sell it to me. Had it marked for $1200, and from my looking around that was a good price. Told me make me an offer, told me it was not moving and he was tired of hauling it around.....bet I could have got it for a grand. I was really tempted, but blew my money on primers that I was lucky to find at $120 per thousand. I had time to hit the bank and get cash.....but......I had already spent my "play" money and I don't think this is a good time to be hitting the "put away for rainy day" money for a toy.

I will likely regret not buying that.

 

Just saw two 10/22m's at the gun show today. One was supposedly unfired other than factory. for the bargain of $1550 with the box.. The other, with handling marks, etc., was $1750. eek. Nothing like shooting for the moon.... The only thing more scarce, I only saw two marlin 60's in the entire building. Given the millions made, I expected to see a few at least. One was an '87, full length tube with LSBHO, with a basement rattle can camo job for $200. The other was a '90's something laminate stocked for $400. I might have payed $300 for that one, if I didn't already have 6 or 7 and was looking for a nice specimen.

 

This 44 Magnum is different, unique and works....

 

So cool, I did not know they made it in a lever.

Congratulations, don't listen to the haters. 10/22 magnum have a few rules 1 don't modify them at all. 2 shoot heavy bullets, gun was made before all these hot magnum loads were around. So stay with heavy standard velocity ammo. 3 keep it clean. Gun will run like a good watch. I kill lots of Coyotes and wild hogs all year with mine. When I stopped playing with it and put it back bone stock it's reliable and fun. Hope you enjoy yours

Are these known issues the reason Ruger redesigned the 10/22magnum from a single extractor to a dual one?? Anyone know?

 

Love my Ruger 10/22wmr can shoot every predator in Alaska with it if had to. The farthest successful hits was 200-250 yards on wolf running away 4 good hits and it was down

 

Do you have the factory stock for the 10/22 Magnum?
