Favorite time to hunt squirrels???? Well, DUH... anytime I can get out in the woods to hunt them!!!! :p
Oh, you mean what time of the day???;) I like mornings best!!! When the leaves are down I like to just sit and wait!!! Particularly if there are lots of nice dry crunchy leaves. But stillhunting is also a good way and I like that too. Shucks, I just like to hunt squirrrels, period!!!
God Bless, Frank.

Hoooooowdy

Hey All:

CF-anytime it's light enough to see the rascals. Early Summer and Fall are tough to beat, but the de-stressing of the woods comes from June to Feb here in Mo.

Hope you're gettin out more, whatever time,

SEMO

I'm an early morning man.

And:

I especially like the first week of season (first of Sept) when they are really dumb. Even better, I like the 3rd week of Sept when they are hard on the hickories. Hickories are like cocaine to squirrels. Even if they know you are there, they can't leave them alone. Just slightly better than that, I like the last week of Oct - first week of Nov - when the leaves are all off and I can sit under one tree and kill a limit with no mosquitos and no sweat running down the crack of my... back. And this is almost as good as the last week of season, on a day when it's been cold for a couple weeks and then the sun comes out and the temps get up to about freezing. Every squirrel in the timber is out, on the walnuts and hedgeballs, and you can see them at 200 yards - and thy're as fat and furry as little bears.

Now that I think about it - I'm not really all that fond of squirrel hunting. ;) :D

I also like a good morning hunt, one reason is not having to worry about the wind early in the morning, here in Kentucky the past couple evenings it has been very windy right up till about 1 hour before dark. Seems like the stay in the valleys and hollers when it is windy, and I would rather stay on top, I tend to get a little lazy:)

I don't hunt much before we have a killing frost.Generally I make a day of it. I like to be in place before daylight, hunt till near mid day and take a break.Come back mid afternoon and hunt till it's too dark to shoot.I use the break to dress squirrels(if any) from the morning hunt and put them in a cooler, eat a bodacious lunch and take a nap. When hunting with a dog I start a little later and quit little earlier because of needing some light to navigate to where the dog is treed. The mid day break is about the same except the dog (s) have some heads, guts, and hides to gnaw on if we did any good in the morning hunt.
