Shot this today in great conditions with a new lot of Center-X that I recently found in my stash. (2 bricks worth).

So I gave it a go, and the first 10 shots were looking fantastic (99-3X).
But in the next 15 shots I had a 7 and an 8.
That seven had to be a flyer, and it really hurt. Because I don't usually see a round hit that far out in such light winds, I originally scored it as an 8!
My brain just couldn't except is was a 7.

Anyway I think this lot still may be pretty good, time will tell.
As always, I'm not shooting my Lapua Test Center ammo, and I shoot of a Bipod, and without a Tuner

240-5X with a couple of nail biters.

50 yard entry - Shot 08-05-18
240-5X Smoothtrigger.
Anschutz 1727F-22 CISM.
Unlimited Class.
NF Fixed 42X.
Factory Action, Barrel, and Stock.
Shot using a Bi-Pod and Protector Rear Bag.
Lapua Center-X. New practice lot.
Sunny 80°- Very Light winds.

Smooth.

Why thank you.:)
I kinda agree.

Just can't stand 7's in light winds.

Starting in November my range will be switching to this target for our 50yd rimfire matches.

We shoot 2 targets at each match, and I'll be posting my results.
I'll also encourage my other competitors to do the same.

We shoot off bipods and rear bags, and do not allow tuners or mechanical front rests.
However next year we will be using wind flags, in that I talked my range into providing them for our match.:)
We have 2 divisions, and so far all of the rifles in both our Match Division and our Sport division are factory stock rifles.

Match is dominated with Anschutz rifles, but includes Win 52, Rem 37, Shul, Kimber, and what ever may show up that we all agree is a match level rfle.
So far no one has shown up with a full on custom Benchrest rifle, but the bipod rule will probably discourage them anyway, thank goodness.

We're just finishing our 1st year, and the number of shooters is growing every month to the point that we will soon have to run a second relay.
We max out at 18 shooters on the line at one time.

Holy _ _ _ _ , what a beautiful rifle.
Nice Tuner, Great rest, and one of my Favorite scopes.

On a different note
, I'd really like to see this entire thread (all classes) pick up some steam.
Everyone in this the country can purchase, and shoot this target.

I understand having the different divisions, but I'd like to see all divisions post on a single USBR thread , and simply state their division, and distance shot.
I would also encourage everyone to post up photos of their targets, and at least one time, their equipment

This thread should be rocking.
If we did the above, it would show up on "'New Posts" all the time.
With photos, it would draw in interest from our fellow RFC members who'd want to check out both the equipment and the targets, which then would generate dialog.
(Who's stock, what rest, how do like your scope, who's rings are those, do you shoot free recoii, or grip your rifle to within an inch of its life, ect.ect.ect.)

Anyway just one man's opinion.

OK on my way to bed but will give some input. My rifle Diorio V2 turbo shillen barrel jewel trigger Harrell tuner Lidgard stock. Built by Joe Routh (the same guy that wrote about the 82G)

Front rest is a Randolph with an Arnold top. Rear rest is also a Randolph modified by Joe ruth.

B&K rings

Ammo center x.

Free recoil.

I have been shooting the USBR target for about 18 months I have done 247 12 x once and 247 7x once in that time. On the other hand a couple of weeks ago I managed a fantastic 225, I just could not get a handle on what the wind was doing that day.

At a guess I would say I average around 235 most of the time and an occasional foray into the 240s.

Cleaning regime. At the end of every shoot at the range 1 dry patch then Hoppes and a nylon brush 10 strokes with extra in the chamber area pack and go home 1-2 hour drive.
At home dry patch down the barrel clean bolt and tuner (on the the rifle) another patch with Hoppes on, wipe the whole rifle down and put away with no body fluids on (acid from hands).

After a years shooting I took the rifle back to Joe Ruth for a check and he said everything was like new.

MY mistake I did not count that -1 second target. Belive it or not I realize I had not counted it until I saw it in the phot on the board

#13 · (Edited)
I was waiting for you to catch that.
I know how easy it is to do that.

I, and all of the shooters in our monthly 50yd match have missed scored bulls, and more commonly due to being math challenged, have missed added correctly marked targets.:)

Still a super fine target.

I was waiting or you to catch that.

And I of course believe that you simply missed that.

I, and all of the shooters in our monthly 50yd match have missed bulls, and especially have missed added correctly marked targets.

Still a super fine target.

I marked the target at the range but missed it when adding the - points up Duh

To be honest I dont think this thread will ever do well. All I ever hear about the USBR is that it is a very hard target, I thought that was the whole point of target shooting.

Am I in the right place? Completely stock CZ 455 thumbhole but weighs 9.0 lbs with DIP base, rings and scope so don't meet the factory sporter 8.5 restriction. It's new so not vintage classification either. Seems like I'm way outclassed here. Would think low/mid 230's would be a good goal with my basic set-up? If I'm in the right place...

So I want to be very careful here.
This not my thread.

The last posts for Factory Sport class rifles was back in Oct 2017. Which is my point.

So I think that we should all post on this thread (Unlimited) regardless of your rifles classification.
Just describe the rifle, and list your distance along with the other details.
We all understand the limitations of each class, and frankly I doubt anyone cares.
This isn't the Olympics.

On a single thread, everyone can search each months entries to find similar rifles to their own if they wish.

But I would like to have just one thread to check in on each month.
We wouldn't have to abandon or erase the old threads, but from now on just have everyone post on this thread.

However, as I've already stated, this isn't my thread.
The OP will have to let us know what he thinks.

That is an excellent target for the gun and ammo you were using....well done! :bthumb:

I'm still not being clear.

Your target is 100% inside the rules, and is also reflective of what 95% of the other shooters are doing. They are using all kinds of high end front rests.

I may be the only one not using a mechanical front rest. So that's just me, and I have chosen to use a bi-pod for the reasons I have explained.

So their is no need to delete anything.
Please shoot some more targets whenever the mood strikes you, and use any rest you like. I suggest that you use the very best that you have.

So this is a really interesting thread, and I'd like to see many more shooters give it a go.

Smooth
Ok, I think I have it all sorted out now. I just came in from 10 hours on a tractor spraying for Army worms (Fall Cutworms). We are having an outbreak of Biblical proportions - these critters will literally strip pastures and hay meadows of grass and do it in a few days. Said all that to say that I have been very distracted. Also was not very familiar with this thread until I took time to look it over last night. What threw me initially was your post where you said "My monthly match only allows bags or bipods". In my state of mind I jumped to the conclusion that when you said "MY" that you were running the contest in this thread and was referring to it.....and that I had not followed the rules. So, I was confused about it all..... until I had time to sit down and read back through it again. A tired old mind is not very functional sometimes.

Anyway, no permanent harm done....

Shot this today (Sept thread not up yet, I'll move it when it is) in breezy conditions.
Didn't use our new wind flags, so I played the waiting game.
Took me 40 minutes to shoot it.

This was shot with another old brick of ammo that I still have 7 boxes left of it.
I won't waste it on anymore practice targets.:)

Staring in November I'll be shooting 2 of these a month with my Lapua Test Center ammo in our monthly match. I can now add these seven remaining boxes to that stash of 67 boxes.

50 yard entry - shot 09-03-18
244-5X Smoothtrigger.
Anschutz 1727F-22 CISM.
Unlimited Class.
NF Fixed 42X.
Factory Action, Barrel, and Stock.
Shot using a Bi-Pod and Protector Rear Bag.
Lapua Center-X. Another old lot.
Sunny 72°- Breezy 2-7mph switching winds with lulls.

Nice target. Any idea what happend with that 8. I get those flyers and have no idea why. I dont know if I will get a chance to shoot the way this weather is going, tropical storm passing through right now

#32 ·
Yeah that 8......still not a 7.:)

What caused it?
Could have been a hot round, but it was more likely the wind.
When the wind blows from behind the shooter (south wind) or straight into the shooter (north wind), our baffles introduce some vertical.

The wind that day was primarily coming from behind me (tailwind), but was switching all over the place, hence as I stated, I just tried to wait it out.
I think I got caught out with a bit of an updraft.

This is just to show the baffles. Photo taken on a different day, and I wasn't using the flags when I shot the above target.

Some good scores here on that difficult USBR target. Saw this thread yesterday and happened to be out this morning trying to tune up a factory 52D for my son to shoot in my club's Factory gun matches this coming Saturday. It has been a good while since I shot a USBR target, so on a whim I thought I would give it a whirl before putting everything away. So, this is my one and only try for this entry. Funny thing, I kept noticing my point of impact drifting vertically and had to chase shots as I went. After it was all over, I happened to notice that I had forgotten to tighten the recoil spring on the 15X Unertl scope......the scope had drifted back in the mounts about 1" while shooting the target........ I hope I die before I completely lose my mind.

Entering here since I was shooting Midas +.......though I only paid $6.20 a box for it........;)

50 yard entry - shot 9/5/18
243-6X, James Livingston, Center , Texas, (pump.22s) (age 71)
Winchester 52, Unertl Ultravarmint 15X fine crosshair
Factory gun
Sunny, light Easterly breeze
All questionable bulls were plugged

Really nice target shot by a couple of old warhorse's,....you and your rifle.:)

So what were you using for a front and rear rest?
My monthly match only allows front bags, or a bi-pod which is why I use.
Moving and resettling the bi-pod on every shot is quite a challenge.
I could give it a go with my front mechanical rest, but I think it might influence my shooting expectations when shooting off the bi-pod.:)

By the way, photos's are always nice if you have the time.

If that is the case, then I misunderstood the rules for rests.....It seemed to be saying there were no restrictions since it is an unlimited class...."block of wood, one piece rests" etc. I took it you were using the basic USBR rules for Unlimited Class. If not then I will remove my post, because I did use a Bald Eagle front rest with a flat plastic plate attached to the top plate of the rest.
