I enjoy CZs but the majority of my rifles are sporter rifles. I do have one AT ONE with a 16 inch barrel which I am very happy with. I've been wanting to a MTR. My question is,
what is the difference between a Varmint MTR and a MTR? Is there a difference?

Thank you for your concern. I saw a Varmint MTR on a site I’ve purchased many of my 457s from. My question is…. Is there a difference?

A 457 Varmint MTR, when first offered, is a specific configuration: a unique Walnut stock (labeled VARMINT MTR) and bull barrel 20.5” with a Match chamber.

As the years passed, CZ sold a Match-chambered barreled action using various stocks including a chassis in different barrel lengths and gave the models the MTR label.

When accessing CZ’ website, be aware that there’s CZ-USA and the Czech (Euro) pages.

Hth, Ed

Well, the MTRV I have has an un-threaded match barrel, while the MTR barrel I ordered a while back is also a match barrel, but it is threaded. Both 20.5" bbls.

Yes,
The chamber on the Match Target Rifle "MTR" was cut to tighter specs. The MTR barrel came on several different stocks/chassis models.

Varmint Precision MTR Chassis model. this particular one is no longer in production. it had a very short run.

MTR in a Manners stock. this model also had a very short run.

Long Range Precision MTR, this also had a short run in the USA. (gray stock) I believe it's still available oversees in a black stock.

This MTR in a Manners stock is still in production.

If I missed one, please feel free to add.

Thanks everyone. All of my CZs have wood stocks . I’m not a chassis type a guy. I aim to keep it that way but that’s just me. LOL. I saw a VMTR for sale and I like that stock. I’m not a competitor but against myself and a couple of guys who come out to my place.

Having a pair of 457 Varmint MTRs I think you would be very happy and pleased with the 457 VMTR's accuracy shooting a variety of different brands and tiers of ammunition. My go to regular range rounds are Norma TAC/MATCH-22 and CCI SV but they really shine and win with tested lots of Eley Tennex and RWS R50.
Btw both are bone stock except for lighter trigger springs and neither have a threaded barrel, not saying that makes any difference.
Good luck and happy shooting.(y)

Well I done did it. Ordered a 457 Varmint MTR last night. I’ve purchased quite a few firearms through this company, although they can be a bit pricey, they haven’t let me down yet. Will update you all once I receive it.

Congratulations, I think you’re gonna love it!
I finally found and pulled the trigger on a 24” chassis MTR from grab a gun. There are 4 guys in my group of friends went from mid-pack to top 10 shooters in our long range matches with these rifles. If you can’t beat’m join’m!
When I told the range owner (he has 4 of these MTR’s) that I bought one he asked; where did you find one? I’d push my grandmother down to get another one. Made me laugh.

Thank you. I’m excited. I’ve read many posts regarding this model. My only worry is that I may let this rifle down. I’m expecting good things from the VMTR but will I be able to shoot up to its expectations? I’m not the man I used to be. LOL.

Me neither! Thank God for glasses and rifle scopes!

What company did you buy it from?
