Does anyone have experience with the Rock Island Armory AL 22 revolvers?

While looking around my LGS a couple of days ago, they had a blued Rock Island AL 22. BEAUTIFUL GUN! Deep blue/black finish, reminiscent of my 586. I'd love a 617 or King Cobra .22, but...retirement income, you know! I understand RIA has a stainless model, too. The only problem I see is me. It's supposed to be about 2 ozs. heavier than my 357.
Does anyone have either of the AL 22s? Any advice re: quality, accuracy and if current speed loaders will fit?
Thanx

Well I actually got one yesterday. Took it to the range today and put 500 rounds thru it. It functioned flawlessly. Sure the double action trigger is a bit heavy but no more than my buddies new S&W 617. The groups were tight right out of the box at 10 yards and I found I am more accurate in double action. Fit, finish and quality build are in my opinion better than my friends new S&W 617. He actually had to send his back after 1000 rounds due to out of time, terrible leading in forcing cone and a broken trigger. Yes it was a new gun and now after reading about S&W quality control I am glad I got the RIA AL22. Now I know resale S&W will command a higher price, but having an accurate, well build fun gun to shoot makes up for that.

I would not hesitate to get the RIA AL22. I hope this helps other folks discover this awesome revolver.

Several years back a friend bought an Alfa-Proj revolver,,,
It was from a different distributor and had a different name.

But it's a solidly built gun that his kids haven't been able to wear out,,,
I once thought it would be a nice companion piece,,,
To any of the bolt-action CZ rifles.

Same country and all that.

I was surprised at Rock Islands price,,,
I remember those others going for $399.00.

But then again,,,
That was a few years back.

Been searching for a K-framed sized 22 revolver and originally wanted a companion to my Ruger Match Champion, a GP100 22. Trying to find one for under a $1,000 in auction, no one is stocking them, proved impossible. Then started considering the S&W options and they can be had for under $1,000. But ran across some reviews of the Czech-made AL22. Probably will order one of these this week. No one locally carries them. I found one bad review related to the accuracy of the 22wmr version and that is about it.

I ended up ordering one from Armscorp this morning. I have a couple of other RIA guns in my collection including a 30 year old government model 1911 my father bought for me and that little reduced sized 1911-like 380 they produce. Both have been nothing but dependable. Of course his revolver is a Czech-made firearm.
