Ordered my build 9/20/23 and received it today. It was definitely worth the wait. 24" Shilen Match barrel mounted in a MDT ACC Chassis. Installed an Arken EP-5 and will hopefully begin ammunition testing tomorrow. Have on hand for the first range test SK Std +, SK Rifle Match, SK Long Range Match and Laupa Center X. Will post targets to this thread as they are shot. Posted a photo of the magazine well due to a photo on another thread that stated end users were opening this area up to have more finger access to the magazine release. Looks like MDT corrected that problem.

Sweeeeeet !

Wow, I've heard people are very pleased with Kenny's builds. I wonder what the improvement in accuracy over a standard CZ of the same make and model is given similar ammunition, weather etc... Also curious to see if anyone has experience with the accuracy of a nice custom like the OPs vs. Rim-x and other more expensive options. I assume the cost of a custom CZ is near the cost of a Voodoo or Rim-x but still a savings. Curious in people's experiences.

No personal experience, but there are a few here that have DPG builds. I know Womfat's wife just got hers and says good things about it. The threading and truing of the receiver seems to make a difference, but not sure how much of one as I've never seen a side by side with say a Modacam prefit.

From what everyone says, a high end prefit and these DPG builds will definitely hang with RImX and Vudoo. Honestly, the only reason I didn't go this route was because I wanted an R700 footprint for stock/chassis options.

Wow, great video. That build looks like a lot of thought went into it. That paint goes a long way to making it a special piece as well. Great job. Interestingly, they didn't cover the accuracy vs. other options nor the price difference. I assume this rifle is similar to RimX and Vudoo in both regards which says a lot about Kenny's work. So impressed.

I would imagine it's better than some pre-fit RimX builds and definitely on par with a Vudoo. Could be better than a standard Vudoo though.

I was going to order just a 457 barreled action from DPG but didn’t like the fact that it required full payment with a 9 +/- month lead time. I have quite a few flavors of RimX prefits and they all shoot very well and took weeks to get versus months. Will the DPG shoot any better than what my RimX can do? Doubt it.
That said, I have stuff at MCR waiting for a 457 build and a Vudoo factory barreled action coming in this week.

To the OP, that’s a handsome modern build; and it seems to shoot very well.

In addition, you are a fine and consistent marksman. Good to see those detailed photos, captions and low-key presentation.

Still awaiting my own DPG 457 barreled action. Ordered it mid October 2023. I'm fairly sure it's going to be Kenny's in-house barrel, threaded fit.
The 457 with the Lilja on it is shooting sweetly enough so far this summer that I can handle the wait ... but I still feel kind of like a little kid waiting for Christmas.
I'm 60 years old for goodness sake!

I only paid half down and rest just before delivery

I have ordered recently. I know it is going to take a while, but I feel like it is going to be worth it in the end. That said.... I do want it RIGHT NOW! LOL

For a complete build yes. For a barreled action it must be paid in full. I just don’t like giving someone ALL the money up front when it’s going to take almost a year. 2-3 months sure.
I can understand that.
I was kicking around my options ... a second try at an Anschutz, a Vudoo, one of Kenny's builds, etc. and had made the decision I was buying something new to complement my current .22 match rifle.
So, I knew the cash total had to flow out the door at some point. So, once I made the decision what I really wanted, I just paid for DPG barreled action up front, ordered my chassis, my trigger (Jard) and ordered all my bolt-ons (Arca rail, bag rider, bipod, etc).
That stuff's all in a neat little spot at home right now awaiting the DPG barreled action.
But, indeed, the waiting is never easy.

Looks like you will get one of the threaded actions, Mine is the thermal fitted one.

just cant wait a year for anything. Dont understand why some customs take a year to complete. I think I would just go a factory built VuDoo and be done with it. I realize the .22 NRL/PRS game is skyrocketing. A Year is a long time. I do like the blue one in the video. Black is meh these days. Send it back for a custom Cerekote job.

Sometimes guys seek out a custom or semi-custom such as a DPG or Modacam 457 or a Gary Eliseo Tikka ("Universal Match Rimfire Rifle") because, in part, they'd rather not go to a 700 format .22lr.
Not saying they're right or wrong, just saying everybody's got their own idea of what they might like to run in their style of matches.

I was directed to this post and awesome to see the input here by many individuals. The results shown are awesome.

To add some input, like other reputable shops building custom CZ457's. We are able to eliminate many of the 22lr variables including cold bore shift and pickyness. Headspace as mentioned plays a huge factor in this as well as firing system tuning. This is why our shop ask what ammo is being used. Reliability and safety is outmost priority. The CZ457 bolt can be shimmed to better suit ammo like Eley if the rifle was headspaced for Lapua. Our chambers and barrels are not picky

Though we can eliminate factors in the rifle build, ultimately we cannot eliminate the defects in the ammo. Tuners cannot either. This is why it's crucial to lot test and why higher grade ammo cost more. SK ammo is made on the same machines as Midas and X-act. It's the post testing done by the manufacture that gives the label and ultimately the cost you pay. If your seeing flyers on your groups, check and verify with a chronograph if it correlates with a higher or lower velocity standard. While 50 yards is a good standard of judgment for a rifles accuracy. 100 yards or 100 meters in optimal conditions should be the overall performance factor. This is why Lot test centers will use 50 meter testing to determine potential lots and 100 meters for final decision. It is essential to use higher grade ammo and lot test to determine best performance of the rifle system as a comparison. Our shop test with 7-10 lots of Center-X or Midas before leaving as an overview of performance and pickyness. Guaranteed to shoot .3 at 50 and sub 1in at 100 with match grade ammo

With the capabilities of our new Turn Mill CNC's. We are now squaring up these CZ actions and mill turning threads into the receivers. Essentially turning the CZ457 to a modern CZ452. Allowing for heavy contoured barrels to have solid rigid lock up on the receivers, eliminating the need for grub screws while still allowing for the ability to use factory/slip fit barrels and grub screws. Our rifles are guaranteed for performance throughout its life time. Give us a call for any questions or issues. Ultimately our name is on the rifle and we want it to out perform your expectations.
