Which chassis do you think is the best for PRS/22NRL for the CZ 457. There are a number of options:

1. MDT ACC (EuroOptic list this as its own thing but is this just a Premier Gen 1?)
2. MDT Premier Gen 1
3. MDT Premier Gen 2
4. MDT XRS
5. L3i Hyve
6. Vision
7. MPA

If I missed any please let me know. I would be interested to know if for example the additional cost of the higher end MDT chassis are worth it over the XRS.

I understand the ability to switch grips is nice and mount more weights, but is that worth double the cost? Is the XRS flimsier? I would say the additional fore-end of the higher end MDTs is good but they shortened it for the Premier Gen 2, so that kind of negates that advantage. What about the vision and Hyve, how do they compare to the MDT offerings?

I appreciate any feedback, even if its just I love my MPA.

mdt acc, hyve or vision they will be much easier to balance.

i have a 457 in a mdt acc gen1 and one in a mpa hybrid the mpa does not balance and it takes special weights where the mdt acc gen one can run m lok weights much father out to the end of the barrel

I would rank them in the following based on feedback from others I know and shoot with:
  1. Vision
  2. MPA CZ457 Vanquish
  3. MDT ACC Premier Gen 2
  4. L3i Hyve
  5. MDT ACC Premier Gen 1
  6. MDT XRS
That being said, Chassis are very much a personal preference choice. I personally don't like MPA chassis, but they're good chassis. They just don't feel good in my hands.

Vision is made from 7075 Aluminum which feels different. I've only handled one that had a Vudoo in it, but it was really nice. I would say it's much nicer than an MDT in most respects. Based on how it feels, I would personally choose Vision if I was going to get another chassis. I'm a stock person though so prefer Manners or Foundation.

I've had a couple MDT chassis and they are nice, I'm just not a chassis person so that's the main reason I've gotten rid of mine.

I've only seen Josh's review on the Hyve, but it seems nice and I like L3i.

Correct

The higher end chassis are definitely worth the cost to many people over the budget options like the MDT XRS, KRG Bravo, etc. The quality, feel, features, and ergonomics will be much better on something like the ACC.

They did this mainly for the rimfire crowd. It really wasn't necessary, but I guess enough of their customers weren't running barrels over 20 inches so the long forend of the ACC Gen 1 was a bit much. It may slightly hurt the ability for it to balance out with fewer weights, but I haven't heard any major complaints. The Gen 2 forend is much stiffer and heavier than the Gen 1 so it kind of balances out. I'd take the Gen 2 over a Gen 1 any day.

Thank you so much for the detailed response! The MDT Premier really caught my eye. Thank you for clarifying the differences. I didn’t realize the fore-end of the gen 2 was stiffer and heavier despite being shorter. Of the more premium options it’s the most affordable right at $1k on EuroOptic. I’m going to go with a 24” barrel (likely a muller works) so it should balance well.

All mentioned are high quality competition oriented chassis, all with plenty of features/adjustments to make it a good fit for you. All are very pricey when you consider the cost of a 457 build. I'd got to a PRS match and ask around, guys will tell you their likes/dislikles with their choice...probably even let you get behind the rifle and get a feel for it. I've had MPA, MDT and Grey Birch chassis, settled in with 2 MDT chassis...for me personally the grip, thumb shelf, trigger interface were most consistent. Nothing at all wrong with the others, just what works best for me. Take your time before dropping big coin and find the one that feels best for your frame. Don't get caught up in the brand name, fan boy, what's everybody else running decision...the one that fits you the best will give you your best scores, it's all that matters.

I run my 457 MTR in an XRS. When I first got into shooting last year, a buddy at the range had it, and on impulse I bought one as well. It's not a bad chassis, I actually really like the aesthetics.

However I've now shot a few matches, 7 so far this year, and talking with guys, trying out their rifles/chassis... I will definitely be picking up an ACC premier Gen 2 on black Friday (if I can last that long).

It just fits and feels better.

I still have a long way to go and am nowhere near where I out shoot the XRS, however I'm also getting my dad into the sport, and he also wants an XRS, so he'll be getting mine, and I get an excuse to buy another new shiny! Win win!

Literally in the car ride home from a match where team Canada was also competing, and just seeing what other people way way way above my class are shooting, and the vast majority are running ACC variants, or the vision.

How crazy is the MDT Black Friday sale? If you are diligent will you get one or no it’s a total crap shoot?

From what I've gathered "regular" sale items are 15% off, with "factory second" sale items are 40% off. I grabbed 3 items that were factory second, the send it level, a set of the premier scope rings, and a muzzle brake. Out of the three, the only one I could actually see why it would be factory second was the muzzle brake, and the MDT logo engraving on the outside wasn't as deep or noticeable as it looks on the website. If that's the only issue that helps me save 40%, hell yeah!
2024 was my first black friday sale, and the website did crash right off the bat, but once it was fixed it went pretty smooth.

Most of their sale items don't run out. If they do they have generally let you back order them. Usually takes them 3-4 weeks to catch up completely.

I caved early and bought an MDT ACC Premier Gen 2 in FDE. I got a good deal on it. I will update the thread with pictures once it is installed. Thank you to everyone for their advice!
You really can't go wrong with MDT. Lots of fun upgrades and add-ons for the ACC Gen 2 as well. Looking forward to see your build come together.

I have a Grey Birch chassis on a 10/22, seems well made. Been happy with it though...have never tried their CZ version. They are somewhat "minimalist" as for weight and feel, or at least mine feels that way.

Grey Birch

Be interested to hear how you like the MDT, had thought about a chassis for one of my CZ's.

I did, I am sorry. It looked good and the seller let it go below their asking price.
Great deal then buddy! Way to go. I knew I should have made an offer the day before, when I saw 19 people watching. Sucks for me, because I have waited too long on the last two good deals out there on chassis options, this and a Manners. Too many people out there offering them for more than you can buy it new, so gotta jump on the good deals when they happen.

I’m looking forward to that Vision chassis coming back in stock. I like the idea of trying this one out.

I promised pics, here it is so far. The American Synthetic Suppressor Ready 20.5" barrel looks a little sad in the chassis, so that will need to be the next upgrade. I will be interested to see how it shoots once I figure what torque the action screws like.
