CZ 453 Varmint Becoming Rare?

Hey y'all,

Been out of the scene for a long time. I know that CZ quit manufacturing the 453 Varmint. I have one in .22LR, with some extras. Owned it for several years and have never shot it. Frankly don't have time and have other priorities in life right now.

That being said, it's taking up room in my gun safe. Wondering if the 453 Varmint is turing into more of a collectors/valuable model. Debating selling it at the moment.

Thanks for any input.

Like my 453 American, I've not seen either model - new or used - @ the LGSs here or on tables @ area gun shows for quite a few years. I'd hang on to it. It's value is only going to increase.

Most CZ rimfires are outstanding shooters @ the typical 50yd range, but I've found the 453's set-trigger adds another dimension for making really accurate shots farther out. The only limitation for hunting purposes isn't accuracy (apart from wind drift) but the terminal ballistics of the .22lr past 100yds.

The CZ 453 is simply an outstanding rimfire rifle. Here's my 453 American - set up as a .22lr analog to my .308 Precision rig.

Yeah, those are about the answers I figured I'd get. It's not something I need or have to sell, just one of those things where I was thinking "hmmm, I wonder". I guess I'll hang onto it for now....unless I get some type of offer I can't turn down somewhere down the road.

Love my 453 American

txaggie929, my first CZ purchase was the 453 American. When I picked it up at the LGS and held it in my hands, I knew that it was going home with me. I did not buy it right then, the CFO of the home had to approve of the purchase. Seeing as how Father's Day was coming up she said OK. Went back to the LGS, bought it; put a Bushy Banner scope on and have enjoyed shooting the rifle ever since. That purchase led me to buy a 452 FS 22, 527 Varmint Laminate 223, 452 17hmr Trainer, 455 17hmr Varmint Heavy Barrel. Am I addicted to CZ's, I would have to say yes. I don't think I would part with any of them. They are fun rifles to shoot. Just my 2c.

A guy in a bench rest match pulled out his 453 so I finally got to see one in person. His had the heavier varmint barrel. He told me he didn't care for the set trigger because he didn't like the length of pull with it set. He had no idea it had been recalled or that this rifle is becoming more "rare". He is a pretty decent shot so when he shot a 197 on the USBR I wasn't very impressed. I shot better with my factory varmint 455. I may have to see if he will let me shoot a round with it next time!

Are you confusing the 453 with the 455 Single Set Trigger recall? To the best of my knowledge the 453 SST has never been a problem and the rifles have not been recalled. I have the 453 American and 453 Varmint. The SS triggers on both have worked perfectly for years.
