Sounds a bit on the high side to me. I paid $220 out the door for mine 2 years ago. Whittakers still has them listed for $209 it think. If your not that far away, I would say give them a visit and take a look around.
I'd say yes it is high Gander mountain had a sticker prices of $229 when i bought mine earlier this year. I'd think under $250 if it is where you could walkout of a gunshop and there isnt any shipping or ffl fees.
I do know this rifle I saw the other day had the tangent sights and the beechwood stock. I have known the shop owner for a few years and my father and I both have done business with him. The owner was not completely sure what the model was called that he had it sounded like. I have no outstanding commitment to buy or anything but am just shopping right now. Whittaker guns is way out of the way for me. I thought about going up there though. 7 hours is just a bit much though. Thanks all.
You can get a trainer for $209 from Sportingarms . They are just outside of Dallas (Lewisville) and even if you have to add shipping and FFL transfer fee it may not run more than 15 or 20 dollars over what a local in Dallas would have to pay after taxes. I believe they markup 7% over their cost. I've purchased several guns from them and they are a pleasure to do business with.
THanks all the CZ should be here tomorrow and i can talk turkey with the man. MIght end up doing an internet buy/transfer FFL from Whittaker Guns or SPorting Arms if it is a trainer and is 285.
Ok the gun is a Special with checkering, tangent sight, and adjustable trigger. The owner knocked 20 bucks off the gun because he said not many young people listen to old folks anymore. Just the way I was raised. Paid for it during my break from work. I pick it up tomorrow.
If those iron sights grow on you (they sure did for me ), consider ordering Eric Brooks 'ghost ring' sight blade for it. The smaller apertures for targets - the larger for hunting - they make using the sight even easier. And for a very fair price too.
Took it to the range the last two days and fed it Dynapoints and some new thing Walmart is carrying called Federal AutoMatch. The Automatch seems to be a little hotter load. Does pretty good though. I can consistantly hit a gallon milk jug at 150 yards offhand with the factory sight. The CZ is by far the best .22 rifle I own now. Also my favorite :Blasting_ !
