At what distance are you low and how much?

You can try to shim it.

 

That was my immediate thought too. Time to buy a Harbor Freight cheap set of feeler gauges.

 

Distance could be the issue. Target was 15 to 20 ft away. I was going to keep moving it back but had to leave.

 

at 15 - 20 feet you should be 1 inch low. That will put you dead on at 25 yards.

 

^ This. Yesterday I shot my brand new, to me anyway, Iver Johnson Mod. 55 a Target. I shot it first at 7 yards and it was shooting a little low but on target horizontally. I moved back to a little over 15 yards and was killing rocks in the berm with the same sight picture.

 

UM Tactical

UM Tactical and some others have a tapered shim that fits the Burris profile. I had one on their UM3 mount that is high above the barrel and it really did the job. You might want to add in case you want to figure out how many clicks you will need to do longer range shooting. I think even the Burris website has this shim and at the low end is priced around $10.

 

May sound stupid to some..But I usually just cut a little strip of Gorrilla tape for a shim..

I would start at 50 feet and then fine tune at 25 yards and it would shoot low at 15 feet

If your pistol is overweight, use a diet soda, or light beer can for the shim.

 

The issue was that the target was too close. After placing the target farther away the FF-3 adjusts fine. I do not usually shoot that close so all is well.

 

Were you getting powder burns on your targets shooting at 15'? Glad all's well.
