I have a Model 17, 6", about 43 years old. The hammer spur just broke off. I don't know why.
Anyway, I just wrote to Big Blue for advice. I imagine they'll say to pack up the gun and send it to them. That's what happened when my 617 started to act unreliably. I sent it back and they replaced the cylinder and maybe some other parts. It worked fine when I got it back.
It's not been a good month for my .22 revolvers. The rear sight blade on my Ruger Single Six also broke. They are sending a replacement blade.
