Just finished off a bottle of Driftless Glen
4 year old Bourbon finished in a Port Wine oak barrel.

I’ve been collecting higher end bourbons to try. Mostly oak or French oak finished.

What are you trying or have had that you enjoyed.

RD 1, Makers Mark cask strength are also favorites of mine.

The wife and I are not too picky about our bourbon. We have offerings from Elijah Craig, Blantons, Basil Hayden, and whatever her or I find in our travels. I usually cook with Woodford Reserve. I have a stash of Hooten Young I break out and share for significant military occasions.

Have a bottle of Three Chord Pinot Noir finish bourbon. Actually the second bottle I purchased, first one is gone. Not sure if it is still available.

Elijah Craig Barrel Proof-very strong, over 100 proof. Like it but cannot drink too much of that.

I also like Jameson's Ocean series. Jameson takes barrels of whiskey and lash them on the deck of cargo ships and sends them around the world. They pick up unique flavors from the temperature changes, sun exposure, and have a slightly salty taste from the sea.

Did you mean Jefferson's Ocean? I can't find any reference to Jameson taking a cruise with their barrels, at least not in my neck of the woods.

Son gave me a bottle of Buffalo Trace for Christmas last year, at least one more drink in it still, just not my thing... Single Malt Scotches and Irish are more to my taste. I don't use mixers with anything.

IMO all of those are over-hyped and over-priced. I used to drink Weller 107 Antique, Weller Special Reserve, & Blantons when the Weller 107 and SR were available for under $40. I won't pay up-charged secondary pricing. I appreciate good tasting bourbon that represent good value. I used to buy lots of Buffalo Trace offerings but I won't play their allocation game and, again, IMO, they are just not that special.

I had found an old bourbon named Hirsch a long time ago. A fellow bourbon fan told me about it one day as I stood in the bourbon isle looking for what tickled my fancy.

It was said the stuff had been found in storage after 30+ years, shipped off to Kentucky, bottled, and sold. Very few bottles in total, but I grabbed one reluctantly due to cost. It was every bit as good as described. Sadly gone forever. One of the best I ever had the good fortune to enjoy.

I only drink the occasional Wild Turkey at my buddy's house. Arthritis can cause unwanted changes as mentioned previously. Enjoyed many of the aforementioned brands.

We did Buffalo Trace for a long time. Then I went to the liquor store and the guy said it's basically a lottery thing to buy it now. The price was much higher too. Screw that! I went with something else. I'll have to look for it again next time I'm in a liquor store. I'll look for Traveler too.

I just finished a bottle of Elijah Craig Barrel Proof. It was good but I agree it was strong

This was given to me last Christmas. Out of Waco. Not bad

We've had this in the cabinet for a few years. Need to crack it open one of these days

I've got some Jim Beam Black, and had it with a Cornish Hen grilled on the grill last night. Wife made a refill for me to have with the meal (1st round occurred when I lit the grill), and she gagged at the smell of the JB. She had too much bourbon a long time ago, and doesn't touch it except to play bartender for me at times.

I got some of the Chris Stapleton "Traveler" a week or so ago, and it's not bad at all, very smooth, no aftertaste to me anyways. Very Old Barton works well too. Bullit is good as well, so I vary things up, sometimes I have to think about what I want to enjoy.

I also have some Dewar's scotch on hand for when the mood strikes me, or JB vanilla or Spice Rum with coke. Gin and Vodka bottles have not been touched in at least 5 yrs or more. LOL

When I went to Total Wine, a large liquor store by me which has multiple locations, I asked for Buffalo trace and Blantons. I was told you need to get on a list. I bought my old standby, Bulliut. I’m not a big bourbon drinker. Prefer tequila.
