Hello Guys, I would like to put a Leupold 2x-7x rimfire scope on my 1982 vintage BL-22. Based on another thread here, I purchased a set of Warne rimfire rings (I prefer Warne for Weaver-type applications). They seen to barely hold the groove on receiver, I believe due to the top of the receiver being slightly rounded and the rings being square on the bottom. Does anyone have a recommendation for rings that have worked well in this application?

I started with Burris rimfire rings in gloss to try and match the Browning blueing and the gloss scope I had. But they came to me with an unmatched finish. One ring glossy and the other dull. so I returned them. Backed off of it and got a set of JP weaver adapters and matte burris signature zee (which I use on nearly everything). They kind of uglify a pretty nice gun with the matte finish, but the combo worked out well in the end purpose-wise.

I've forgotten since its been about 3 years, but its an 11mm dovetail rather than a 3/8" correct?

I just purchased a set of Warne rimfire med. to put on my bl.22. The rounded part on the receiver dovetails seem to be at the ends. I would think if you mount the rings on both ends a tad inward each end they should hold. I called Warne about the rings. Was told there is a little dot that needs to be up for the 3/8” and reverse it down for 11 mm dovetails.

Unless your eyes absolutely need a scope to see; I recommend staying with an Aperture sight.

I also have a BL-22 in grade II. My eyes at 55 aren't what they used to be however, a good aperture sight does work pretty well.

The problem with scopes on a light .22 lever, is that you already have a skinny receiver, that is somewhat Tall, and adding a scope, tends to make the rifle want to flop to one side....especially when shooting off a bench. Kinda like Dolly Parton, in a windstorm....you get my drift. It throws the balance of a lever gun, completely off, and changes the handling. I went with the following, after trying the scope route:

Also, Skinner sights might work for you.

If your heart is set on a scope, get the lightest scope that works for you, also mount it as low as possible. Best of luck.

my BL-22 came to me with a Redfield 4X on Redfield medium rings. Fit's perfectly, Eye relief, height, no wobble (it's a '73 grade II) added a hammer spur from Midway to accommodate my goriller paws, worked the trigger a bit, now it's purrrrrrrfect.

Varmints fear it.

For bigger varmints, my Marlin 922-M S/A, 22 mag gets the nod. 22 hornet, Savage short action. .223 /22-250 / 22 TCM Savage striker bolt action pistol, round out the .22 battery, still like the lever gun best fer plinkin':gun4:

I wouldn't be able to live with a scope on a dainty little BL-22 action for the reasons
Flintlock stated above. A scope, any scope, looks way too big and ruins the handling.
My eyes aren't that great but I can still do well with a peep sight and have a Skinner on mine.

When I get to the point where I can't do well with the peep anymore, then I'll go with this set up:

I can appreciate everyone’s comments, especially how the rifle will look and handle with a scope.

Unfortunately, I still need to proceed with mounting one for several reasons, so if anyone could help me determine what model scope is in the above picture (Moedum1’s) would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks to everyone.

I'm guessing a Leupold 2-7 X33???

Another option, is some of the guys on this website recommend some of the older, quality made 3/4" tubes, that will ergonomically, fit the rifle better. I can't remember if it was Weaver, or some other brands....somebody will chime in.
