Not sure how or where it came or what for that matter. But has any one had something get in bolt lug an cut the crap outta it? Not sure what it was. Was shooting a tournament an it started opening an closing little harder then normal. Pull the bolt blew out the channels wiped it down 4 rds later it locked and this is what I wound up with. Grooves in lug an in the lug channel. Tryed to use borescope best I could to see. Looks like I just wasted 1100$ in 2 months

Still shoots an acts normal. I used jewelers file basically an smoothed the lug cleaned the receiver as best I could with action. Clean an nylon brush. And seems to be cycling ok with no issues. But not happy with it. Debating getting new receiver an bolt body to replace it all.

No Lubricant......Also known as galling. Nothing to do with Bergara. Absolutly nothing. Should they repair this for you consider yourself extremly fortunate.

Here you go. Galling - What Is It, How It Works & Prevention | Fractory
While this is a good article on galling I don’t think in this instance it’s pertinent. The OP said he started to feel it, stopped, wiped it down and then 4 shots later it happened. I would think foreign debris or a machining flaw is a more likely explanation, but I’m not an engineer (train or otherwise).

Seems like something broke. I assume he keeps it clean and lubricated. The parts inside the bolt might be much harder than the bolt, like a piece of spring or something getting loose and chewing up the works. I lube my bolt every time i clean it and sometimes ill drop some lube on it while its been sitting between matches or range trips, even though i lubed it when i put it away. The finish is still rapidly wearing off my bolt.

If you have tight headspace forcing the bolt lugs while having no lube just as cz453 says it can cause galling. I have seen that type of galling from forcing bolts closed while being completely dry. I cant say for certain thats what it was since I didnt handle the rifle to feel if it had tight headspace causing the bolt to be forced closed repeatedly on a dry surface.

I have several bolt-action rifles. Some I've had for years. I really don't use much lube on the bolts. I wipe down the bolt body with a little oil for rust prevention but most of it gets wiped off. The camming/corner surfaces of the lugs get a tiny film of grease. I've never experienced any galling on any of my bolts. Not even minor galling. What shown in those pictures is a crazy amount of galling or wear in a short amount of time. I think it's particularly odd that it's in such a narrow path.

Yeah I normally just us q-tip an smear a very fine layer on. Maybe a drop of butch's oil in the slots. But I like a light bit of greese on lugs. It gets cleaned every 30 rds. Well after every card. I use this rifle for ARA matches, few 100yd varmit shoots. It refuses to shoot well at 100yds. I've talked to bergara about 2 weeks after I bought it. Asked to send it in then. They said be few 6 to 8 weeks. Lol told them I'd wait till winter. Wish now I would have sent it in.
Mean while went got t1x mtr today to take its place. Till they figure it out. Not sitting out rest of the year bc the bergara craped out.

Looking at your pictures of your rim thickness fixture-I wonder if the fixture is relieved to allow for the radius on the case?
So your measurements are with the case sliding up on the radius. What happens if you do not fully seat the case/round into
the fixture, just measuring the outer part of the rim? Then is your measurement the normal .043 +-? :)

Not sure what but something's up with that fixture. @Cornfed427 are you sure the indicator is zeroed before you take the measurements?

Take your dial caliper and pinch the outside of the rim. The reading will be .041"-ish with Lapua and SK. I assume the higher number is due to the radius near the case body

Your rite. I just bought this raven gauge few weeks ago. I apologize sir. I checked outter edge it varies abit 41 to 42 but no where near 62. Guess it's going back to company. I'll find another one.

I mean I've only been in this game for few weeks but I'm guessing they shot 2500 scores b4 they came out with lapua 22lr. I've heard eley was the stuff to shoot for long time. Maybe was better rifles or better shooter's🤷 they may have just put time in to figure out what works. just know what has been working for me an few other I shoot with. All good everyone got there thing.

Lapua was being produced long before there was ARA Factory Class. Lapua 22 ammo has been around for many years. About 15 years or so ago Lapua started upping their game and began surpassing Eley. Something also changed with Eley in more recent years and good lots became too difficult to find. Rifles and shooters 15 years ago. Rifles are even better today.

And you're right, all good if you're enjoying yourself. Your just starting and don't know any better

So little update they sent me completely new rifle. There was hand full of issues with that rifle not just the galling on bolt an receiver. So they just replaced it with a yr newer 2024 model.
Thew the new discoveryopt 5x40x56 top took it for test drive. Shoots good. So it be ready for next year.
Put the nightforce back on tikka it's a winning combo so I'm finishing this year ara out with that.

They are a good company and stand behind their product. For the money it is the best on the market in this catagory. I had one I returned to them and it was stolen off their dock and they replaced it with no hastle. Extremely good company as far as I am concerned.

If you run good ammunition you get good accuracy. If you run great ammunition you get great accuracy. If you run cheap ammunition you get cheap accuracy. You call it for yourself just like anything else.
