Factory Benchrest, and Unlimited Benchrest Rules
All are welcome to shoot, and encouraged to improve their scores each month. It is anticipated that shooters may never get to the 50-yard point. It is very difficult to achieve a 2500 target at 25-yards due to equipment, ammo, weather or skill level. It is deceptively hard to shoot 25 shots inside 0.50” circle (about a 0.25” ctc group). But please join in with us to have a good time. You may also learn something along the way and improve your shooting.
Please do not bend the rules, the only one you will be cheating will be yourself. We award no prizes here. We do allow bragging rights though.
Factory Benchrest Rules (NOT the same as ARA) (Everyone starts at 25-Yards)
#1 Everyone starts out at 25 yds. Once they shoot a 2500 target at 25 yds they then advance to 50-yards.
#2 Any factory gun
#3 Factory barrel (no barrel setbacks but recrown is OK )
#4 Factory stock (no weight added to stock and no glass or pillar bedding)
#5 Factory trigger (spring change and smoothing trigger up is OK, replaced trigger is not)
#6 Any type of action
#7 Any 22LR ammo that is factory loaded (commercially sold)
#8 Any type of sights
#9 No one piece rest, a Bipod is OK, bag riders are ok. The front and rear rest must remain unattached.
#10 No tuner
Unlimited Rules (Everyone starts at 25-Yards)
#1 As above, everyone starts out at 25 yds. Once they shoot a 2500 target at 25 yds they then advance to 50-yards.
#2 No other rules. Yes, that means you can use a 1 piece rest!
Targets
ARA Unlimited targets are the official target. One can use the downloadable one here as well. You will probably have to tweak the downloadable one setting at printing. The inner bull should be 0.50" from outer edge to outer edge.
RFC ARA STYLE.pdf
Scoring
These are scored using ARA worst edge rules. Unlimited sighters, and no time limit here. One shot per bull for 25 bulls. The score is based off a 0.224” bullet hole. Plugs are available commercially, but if you do not have one an unfired round can be used in its place (bullet). Note, all residual holes in targets are smaller than 0.224 as they shrink after the shot. As such, close calls should be “plugged” to check the score.
The general scoring guidelines is below, with any outer edge (worst edge) of a shot breaking outside the outer edge of a blue line scoring lower. The exception being that to score 10 the full width of the blue line must be broken.
Example of discerning a 50 from 25. The blue of the 25-ring is not broken.
Example of differentiating a 100 from 50. Though very close there is still amount of blue from the 100-ring showing.

If you have any questions, please PM me. I will get back to you asap.
