For August, at 100 yards, Bob (dnttech) has requested we shoot groups.
Apparently he likes shooting 5 shot groups, a lot, so he said.
So, we will be shooting the KICKIT100 targets, because Bob likes shooting groups.
5 shots at each bullseye, group size measured center to center at the widest point,
and if you hit outside the heavy ring, you add a penalty dimension.
The penalty dimension is from the outside edge of the bullet hole
furthest from center, to the closest edge of the heavy ring.
Target score is the 2 group measurements, plus all penalty dimensions, added together.

Click on the target link to view, download the pdf, open, print actual size 100%.
The outer border lines of the targets measure 7.5 inches by 10 inches as a check.

In honor of RFC forum member flylo, who shoots at golf balls
hanging from strings, 200 yards downrange, we have the Titleist target.
5 shots at each golf ball, measuring group size from center to center
at the widest point of each 5 shot group. Each shot that does not hit
or touch/nick the golf ball adds a penalty dimension to the total.
That dimension is measured from the furthest edge of the hole from center
to the closest edge of the golf ball. That's for each shot that missed.
The target score is the total of the 2 group sizes and all penalty dimensions.

There will continue to be the support side challenge.
If you normally shoot right handed, you have to shoot lefty.
If'n you normally shoot lefty, then ya' have to make the attempt righty.
And if that's just too complicated, shoot however you like.

Here's an example of scoring the Kickit 100
Group sizes and penalty measurements

Image

And an example of the Titleist target scoring

Image

All on the ball, no penalty dimensions.
Two outside the ball, two penalty dimensions added.
Measured from outer edge of hole furthest from the ball, to the closest edge of the ball.
Not to the outside edge of the ring but the edge of the ball, inside edge of ring.

20 feet, offhand with a pellet pistol and I can't hit a golf ball....Jeez Louise! :D

August has arrived.
Humidity is at 100% and at 7 am I'm already sweating just standing on the dock,
looking at the water, while sipping my morning coffee.
Time to start shooting them groups that Bob's so fond of.
Keep the sun and sweat out of y'er eyes and the bugs out of y'er ears y'all.
Let the good times begin. Post 'em when ya' got 'em. :D

August 100 Yard Factory Sporter Entry

Beautiful morning in the north Georgia mountains to go shooting. Low clouds early that burned off by mid morning. 63 degrees at 8:00 am and 72 degrees at 11:30. Perfect conditions - I just need to develop the ability to keep all ten shots in the little circle. :)

Johnny Johnson
CZ 452 American, 22LR, Weaver V24 scope
Harris bipod in front, Protektor bag in rear
Federal Ultra Match
8/3/18, low 70's, calm, partly cloudy
Factory Sporter
Aggregate total: 2.822" (Groups and penalty measured with On Target software)

You may be right jaia but I did some playing around with varying shoulder pressure this morning after I did an action screw torque/group size test. Firm shoulder pressure = hits at 6 o'clock, light shoulder pressure = hits at 12 0'clock, medium shoulder pressure = just right. I'm just not sure how consistent I was when actually shooting the challenge. Maybe more will be revealed next week.

Later,
Johnny

Ok, my first Monthly Challenge submission, hope I get it right this time. The page printed not quite in the proper scale, but didn't know that until I'd shot.
Modified class, please.

That's a good start DB. Welcome to the challenge.
Remember to print actual size, 100%
The target outer borders should measure 7.5 inches x 10 inches

Bob, you'd best be careful.
Looks to me Julie has the game figured out.
Now all she has to do is find out where you hide the magic ammo. :D

When she gets her hands on the secret stash, she's gonna clean all our clocks.

First off, words of wisdom from an old coot. Same words given to my kids.
Drive as if people are trying to kill you...they are.
There are some extremely stupid folks behind the wheel.
The stupid die young and the truly stupid take others with them when they go. :(

Yeah, nasty wreck at a local intersection.
T-bone caused by running a red light, cops arrived seconds afterwards.
Idiot never even touched the brakes.

Made it to the range after detouring around the mess.
Hot, muggy, wind from the ESE at 7 to 10 mph, my 2 o'clock.
Bipod and bags with the 455 SOF Lilja 17 hmr.
CCI A17 ballistic tips at 100 yards.

5 targets 15 bulls, shot them all

Image

The best one

Image

The A17 is typical CCI rimfire.
Portions of the production are decent and then the quality changes mid box.
I could hear the weak rounds and the hot rounds immediately.
Vertical strays confirmed what the ears had heard.
It's good enough for varminting, but the quality varies too much
to make it worth while as a competition cartridge.

I don't know was not paying to much attention. My son came to see me and we were just out shooting. I noticed when we set up the target I could feel some wind. I'm still trying to figure out mirage. I do most of my shooting at dusk when I don't have any mirage and I'm in a flat Clam situation. We had a good morning. We are doing some chores for the queen and then we are going to fly some drones, he is into racing drones and it's fun to watch him fly. He has made some good videos of flying here on the farm. But having a great day spending some time with him
