Hello,
I'm new to ARA and want to be competitive. Currently, I have a Anschutz 54 Super Match which I believe is pre-1964 (single extractor) and I also have a 1913 Super Match. So far it is hard to say which shoots better but the trigger on the 1913 is very nice. Out of the two rifles I listed, does one of them have an advantage over the other in the ARA world? Would one be better to rebarrel over the other?
I called a Mark Penrod and he said that it would be about $1000 to change out the barrel and put on a tuner. Also, I've been looking on-line for Benchrest stocks and I found a stock that interests me and I am curious if anyone has one. It is an Anschutz AS-300 that is made for Benchrest shooting but it is going to cost me about $1500 so with rebarreling and a stock I'm looking at $2500....Ouch!
So now I'm left with the question should I just sell my two Annie's and buy a full custom rifle? Or would a rebarreled 54 or 1913 with a new stock be competitive?
I used to shoot F-Class using a 6PPC so accuracy is a must!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Todd
