Hello. Anyone from the Peoples Republic of Chicagoland area?

I'm out in the NW Chicago Suburbs. I'm not much of a city person so I try to avoid going into Chicago if at all possible.

Where do you shoot Dawg?

Hi guys -

I live in Elgin. I shoot at Bristol WI. I can only go to the range on Sundays since I work on Saturdays. I just found this thread today. I would love to find a range open on Mondays that is close by. I can always shoot at the gun store where I work but I prefer outdoor ranges to indoor.

Quad Cities

I am from Illinois Quad Cities. I shoot mostly at Princton, Iowa free DNR range. I'll be joining a small local range when I can get in touch with the right folks. $20.00 per yr.
I don't get over to the northeast corner very often.

I'm still discovering how GREAT this forum is!
Just found this thread today.

I'm in Elk Grove Village, IL, so chalk up another western-burb'r here.
I've only been here a couple of years and am desperate to find a good outdoor range. Something tells me I'm looking at driving to Wisconsin, tho.

I would really like to find a 10/22 custom gun expert in my area who could coach me thru the unknown (to me) world of customization--providing the bug continues to bite!

I go to Gobles to do my shopping, except for the Vodka which I get from Bloomingdale as I've talked them into stocking luksusowa which is a good Polish Potato Vodka. If your in the area PM me and you can stop by and do a little plinking.

P.S. my biggest bass out of Great Bear Lake was 19 3/4" just shy of 4lbs on a rubber worm.

Sounds good. I'll definitely do that, but unless I get some better gloves it's gonna have to wait til spring. Went and finished breaking in my new 22/45 at the Allegan range on Saturday and the hands froze.

It's about snowmobile season!

Never went to Great Bear only because of the parking. Didn't want to park on someone's lawn. If you're looking for big bass Saddle Lake right but the road from Bear is really good. I lost one at the boat that would have been every bit of 6lbs.

we have 54 acres across the road from Great Bear and my in laws have 16 on Great Bear. Daughter just bought a house and 4 acres across from Saddle. Don't have to worry about your hands freezing as the house is with in spitting distance.
My wife has about 5 miles of trails cut through the woods and along the creek, they ride dirt bikes in the nice weather and snowmobiles or quads when it's cold.

Fox Valley was owned by my family and it was unfortunate when the decision was made to close it down, I miss it more than you can imagine.

From what I understand the new range in C'ville is to be called Chicago Armory and was scheduled to be open by now. I may have to take a drive over there and check it out.

There's also another new range opening in Crystal Lake called Straight Shooters Gallery and it's planned to have 12 lanes for rifle and 12 lanes for handgun. I believe I read that this range should be opening in June. Should be interesting.
