I knew one person, he got shot in a bank holdup by a 38 special, he said it felt like someone was pounding a red hot bridge nail into him, with a tremendous amount of pressure being felt all around that area. Nice ! Yea they caught the purp.

How did you get shot 4 times?
Did you mean to say something like that and not explain?
Just wondering, because normally if one does not want to talk about something they do not bring it up.
So please tell us more.
I just put four because I thought we were only doing counts.....:D . Don't mind explanations; just takes a lot of typing.

Shot# 1:
At age 14, a friend and I were plinking .22's in the junkyard in Tombstone, AZ. Some 55 gallon drums had .22 holes in them so it was proof that .22's will go through a 55 gallon drum. Right? I sat on a drum and the friend took a shot from about 10 yards away, at the drum. It was a thick-skinned drum so the bullet did a 90 degree turn, went through my jeans and got me right in the butt.

Shots # 2, 3 and 4:
At age 28 (1971) I was simply flying down the Song Tien "Something" River between Viet Nam and Cambodia innocently taking high-speed photos looking for those small riverbank camps where bad guys would unload ammo & such to carry inland and try to shoot Americans with it. We were at about 150 feet altitude.

A totally lucky ground shot knocked out all the hydraulics in the F4-D with me in the back seat running the camera. It was time to eject so up we went, me first.
Good news: the chute opened and I landed in the river.
Bad news: landed right near one of those small riverbank camps. Ended up in a small bamboo cage for 12 days and a crazy **** thought it would be fun to shoot the American Pig a few times with his tiny 20 caliber Russian pistol. Got two in the left arm and one where it was a lot less convenient.

Yeah, I don't know if mine counts either, but I was waiting for my turn at the steel plates, standing off to the side of the pistol area when I felt a sudden sting in my thigh. A richochet from this guys 45 ACP had hit me in the leg. As luck would have it, only part the bullet hit me and it didn't even break though my jeans, but it hurt pretty good, surely it doesn't compare to you guys who have taken a real hit.

First time, I got peppered by my cousin while bird hunting. Second time, got hit with rock salt (from an angry father), third time rock salt again from an angry turkey farmer (we were trying to steal one to turn loose in school for senior prank), fourth time was about 3 weeks ago.

We were out shooting north of Phoenix and there was this old shot-up industrial fire extinguisher. I shot it with a .357 Mag and something flew back and nailed me in the left forearm. I can feel the bump under the skin, but I haven't had it x-rayed or anything. No insurance, LOL, but hoping it's steel or rock instead of lead. It bothers me a little here-n-there, but with luck it'll work itself out or I'll get insurance soon and have it removed.

Could be worse, one time when I lived in Detroit we almost got car-jacked. A guy shot my friend through the armpit with a 9mm. Went straight through and out his shoulder while I jumped on the gas. Ugly situation, I was happy his girlfriend took him to the hospital. We had just dropped off a guy we worked with who lived in a bad neighborhood. Outerdrive will ring a bell to anyone from that area.

Do what I say, not what I do...Stay Safe!:bthumb:

I was also hit by a ricochet from my brother in law breaking the rules. "Never shoot in water" We were out plinking and he shot into a stream. I was reaching for anothe round from a pouch on my belt (we were shooting Contenders) when the bullet hit me in the middle finger right where it joins the hand. Hit hard enough to bounce my hand off my body! I was afraid to look but when I did there was no blood but within minutes my hand was swollen too much to put my hand in my pocket. Hurt like heck. I was lucky.

Two years ago I was shooting my pistol, a Kahr compact in 40 S&W with 135 gr Cor-Bon ammo, When I finished I packed up my stuff and went home. Later that evening I started to clean my guns and stupidly I removed the clip and never racked the slide. The Kahr takes down like a glock, you have to fire it to remove the slide. Well the pistol was in my right hand and with my left hand I held it in front of the slide to catch it, There was a round in the chamber and as a result I blew the bottem of my hand off, Blood and pieces of flesh and bone were on the wall of my living room and a hole through the wall. My wife called 911 and the State Police came and I was taken to two Hospitals for surgery. The surgen had to cut through the bone to my wrist and amputate what was left below my middel finger. To this day and for the rest of my life my hand is numb and hurts like hell. Shooting for 40 years I was a know it all and was careless, I should have known better. Luckly my wife or myself was not killed and my pistol permit was not revoked. You can never be to careful with firearms. rk3006

My Wife's uncle and Myself were out shooting our AK-47's one day and he dedided to shoot a rock about 30 feet away from us with a FMJ. The round came straight back at us hitting me in the right shin. It hit hard enough to take me to the ground. I was scard to death to look but when I did, It had went straight through my bluejeans and the skin on my shin and embeded right into my shin bone. I took my pocketknife and plucked the round out of the bone and just bandaged it up. To this day I have a scar that won't ever completely heal and a large dent in the bone. Needless to say I haven't let anyone shoot anymore rocks while I was with them.

We have a member here that has not posted for awhile. Big Philly is a nice young man if not a little immature at the time. He got a Ruger 22/45 to play with. He decided to keep it loaded around the place that he shared with his mom. He showed Mom how to use it (not taking her to the range, just how to take the safety off and pull the trigger). Philly worked late at a pizza place or something I forget. Short story is that he got home after 1:00am and trying not to wake up Mom did not turn on any lights. The next thing he hears is some thing like:

"Who is there? you better get out of here!"

Deciding to play a joke on Mom..... he made a threatening move!!

Mom shot him right in the gut. If memory serves Philly is about 6'4" and over 300 but he did not like getting shot with that 22!! Paramedic and police came. Police took the Ruger and Philly went to Emergency for some much needed surgery to his insides.

It took a couple months to get his gun back. Mom would not let it in the house so it had to go to an uncle's place. Philly was ok in the long run. Matured him some. Mom had a real hard time with it.

We had another member shot in the back with a 30-06!!! He was at the rifle range. They called "Clear" and went to change targets. At this point someone decide to play with one of the rifles and accidently shot him in the back. He survived after surgeries and much "Sheet time" as we used to call it in racing.

This one and Philly's were not that far apart.

You ever see "Hill Street Blues"? As the old Sarge use to say at the end of every briefing "People, PLEASE be careful out there!"

never by a "real" gun...

but i still have the BB from my friends powermaster 66 under my left eyebrow. i was lying down and he shot me from across the creek. the moral of the story is BB gun wars are a bad idea. BTW it felt like somebody hit me in the face with a flaming sledge hammer. LOTS of blood, nothing bleads like a head wound LOL. been struck by shot a few times always bounce back from squirrel hunting. only the small stuff bouces back 7 1/2's and 8's. anything bigger usually penatrates into the limb.

I got shot on the top of the left shoulder. Had my body bladed to the bad guy and the .357 was aimed at but missed my head. Bullet grazed top of left shoulder and passed behind my neck.
My indelible recollection was that everthing went white, like when you get hit in the nose by a good boxer, but that didn't last very long. Next thing I recall was the ringing in my ears,,, a piercing ring that sounded like someone playing a pure loud note on a flute, except inside your head. AFter that, i noticed my shirt was on fire on the left shoulder. This all took about 1 to 1 1/2 seconds to transpire.
After that, fight or flee kicked in and the bad guy got pounced on.
No more details.

i "shot myself" with a 12 ga while shooting at a junk car door from about 30 feet when i was a kid, 1 of the 00 buck came back and hit me in the right chest really hard. it was fall and i had a jean jacket on with a pack of smokes in the breast pocket. cig may have saved my life? oo shot tore a hole in "outer demin, cig box(full pack) inner denim, t-shirt and just barley cut skin, LARGE BRUISE! i still have the shot pellet and a scar.
and for what its worth, i was shooting with some friends at my super secret range south of ft worth and my "pal" was shooting my mini at some scrap steel that was down range and just as he first shot i yelled "dont do that" and as he shot again a riccocete came "zinging" back and passed between us(6-8feet apart) and shattered out the back window of his truck... i learnd long ago, this was his time to learn.

My Dad, back in 1954 was shot in the right arm, just above the elbow, 12 ga. slug while deer hunting. Almost took his arm off, hung by a small patch of skin.
An old WW2 army surgeon saved it, and can still use it today. Had it in a cast for 9 months, and broke it twice after he got it out.

Had gun safety preached at me my whole life!

I've been peppered many times, and a dumb friend shot me in the butt (went through my jeans into my wallet) with a BB gun when I was 15. Also had a cousin drop a smoke bomb down my jeans a few years before that:eek:

The stories of ADs reminded me of a saying I heard a while back: 'The two loudest sounds in the world are a click when you expect a bang, and a bang when you expect a click.'
