Hi,

Has any tried the 2x TruGlo brand red dot site????

If so, what is the eye relief like??? What size is the dot(I have read conflicting reports, one said 2.5 and the other states 5 minute).

Thanks,
Rob

Hey Recumbent,

I hope it turns out to be a great scope. I realy like red dots for certain things but do miss the magnification---- this scope sounds like a great combination of the two.

I will be waiting for your feedback. (I have been unable to find any in the stores around here to even get a hands on look at one).

Thanks,
Rob

Anyone else with any info?????

2.5 MOA Red Dot

The TruGlo 2X magnification red dot site is 2.5 MOA size red dot.
#TG8030B2X, Red Dot 2X, 30mm objective lens diameter.
Limited lifetime warranty to the original purchaser.

Looks good, the dot is crisp and clear. I will mount it and hopefully make it to the range tommorow.

Will let you know how it does at the range. So far I LIKE it........

I'm anxious to read your review. One thing I am curious about is if there is any loss in brightness due to it being 2x --- compared to a 1x red dot. Also, does it in fact have unlimited eye relief as advertised???

Thanks,
Rob

The mount ....

Hi,

I've been thinking of the same TruGlo site for my .22 Browning Auto take-down, but (as far as I can see) the TruGlo has an integral Weaver mount ... meaning that it won't fit onto the 3/8th dovetail that's typical on .22 rifles ... and the only base that's available for my rifle.

Are my perceptions correct? I could go with an Ultradot (choosing my own rings), but they're not available in Canada and U.S. retailers are generally unwilling to mail-order gun-sights to Canada. Too much useless paperwork ... but I can drive down and bring one over the border no problem. No retailers near here, however ...

dovetail to weaver adapter

The truglo is weaver type mount only. But one solution would be a dovetail to weaver adapter as found here.

Truglo 2X power Review

I took my Tasco ProPoint 42mm, 5 MOA red/green dot off my Ruger MKII pistol and Mounted the Truglo 2x red dot sight.
Went to the range today, cold 35 Deg F, very cloudy and overcast looked like rain any minute.

The Truglo is advertised as 95% light transmisson, which is true. It's 95% or higher transmisson could not tell much difference between the 42MM Tasco and the 30mm Truglo in light transmisson. I did notice the smaller field of view. I am really used to the 42 mm sight. but the 30mm is easy to get used to.

The windage and elevation adjustments are very nice, crisp clean ball detent adjustments they click into place when turned with a screwdriver.

Dot: 2 1/2 MOA good crisp dot. It has 11 brightness settings, I used the #4 setting today.

The elevation and windage adjustments track true, When sighting in the windage was right on and the POI was low so I adjusted.

The 2X magnification is nice. It does have unlimited eye relief.
I mounted it on a 22 rifle first just to check it out then mounted on the MKII pistol and the eye relief is just fine.

It does come with a Limited Lifetime Warranty to the original purchaser.

Bottom line nice site in 2X, I would buy one again.

I bought one when they first came out, and I hate it. Maybe mine is a dud, but it goes fuzzy at times, and it won't hold zero or be consistent at all.

I was VERY disappointed after trying it on a Mark II pistol and a 10/22 rifle. I was excited when I looked through it out of the box, but at the range it was just awful. My guns were more accurate with open sights.

Others like Recumbent (I'm glad yours is working well and producing fun!) report good results, so I may try returning mine and testing that warranty.

If others have experience pro or con, please let us hear from you.

That was me back in 2005. (see above post for details). I put the Truglo 2x in the safe and figured $80 lesson learned; I'll sell it cheap or throw it away later.

I moved it the other day and heard a "clink" sound.

Hmmm? Turns out the front lens is very loose. It looks like maybe a metal ring that
holds the front lens in is missing. In any event, the front lens flops all over the place.

I called Truglo for a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number, per the warranty, left a message and heard nothing for a few days. Then I emailed them and got a reply suggesting that I call customer service.

I replied that I had tried that, and I asked again for an RMA. They suggested I return it to the retailer, but time was up on that; I needed to employ Truglo's limited lifetime warranty.

After a few days, they sent me an RMA. I mailed the 2x off last week with a letter (plus a check for the $12.50 they want for P&H!!). I asked that they waive the P&H fee.

I'll report back on the results. Maybe it can be a decent red-dot if manufactured correctly. We'll see.
