Yes,your rifle has very nice shine of wood and metal, two of the fine features of a real crafted target rifle not often found anymore. The shape of the stock from that period is also very comforting,in use,in touch, and visually. Hard to put words into what we want and why,but I understand, and am confident that you will continue to experience enjoyment from it. Thank You for sharing.

That is a beautiful Match 54. Whoever owned it previously took good care of it.

What trigger is in yours? I have a 1967 Match 54 and it came with a 3# trigger. I replaced the trigger spring and it's now at 16 ounces. They made a hair trigger for it but they cost an arm and a leg... if you can even find one. Mine is on the left in the picture below.

I'm not sure what trigger it has ,but it doesn't have a set trigger,I believe it's a factory trigger. I'm new to anshultz this is my 2nd one I have a Sporter 1415/1416 that's really nice . I'm going to lighten the trigger on the 54 I guess I turn the screw going up under the trigger guard.. thanks for your compliment.

Charlie, that's a fine looking 54 match you have there ,I love the light colored stock . I own 3 CZ,,2 452 and a 457 mtr and a anshultz 1415/1416 they all shoot very well, but this 54 match will out shoot them all .

The original scope blocks would be the same as the foresight block: slightly recessed along the centre, whereas yours appear to be flat. It's not a condemnation, just an observation. I'd guess a previous owner thought US-made blocks fit his 'scope mounts better.
There may be more to it than that. I can't be certain as the photos aren't sufficiently clear to be sure, but I fancy those may be Posa-type blocks.

Giz,

The front block pictured looks like a factory block, but the the rear is visibly different. Have yours been replaced too?
Ah, right Tim, God bless your eyesight.

I see what you mean now, OP’s front block is same as mine with an “M” style cut-out, his rear block has a squared off style cut-out, I see the difference now.

Giz,

.................Have yours been replaced too?
No history on rifle but not to my knowledge Tim, my last rifle, the 1407 I’m working on only came with two sight blocks, centre one was missing so I replaced same with the front one from my 1809 as I use a tuner on it.

The front sight block would be for Anschutz style Front sight
The Rear and mid barrel block would be notched for the standard Lyman/Unertl rings, or. The later Unertl centerfire Poas split ring .
Very easily modified with a Dremell tool .
I have 4 unertl scopes..both Standard and Posa rings.
So depending which scope , (8x, 10x, 15x, 36x)
I just flip the blocks around when changing scopes.

That's partially correct. The OP's rifle has a standard Anschutz block at the muzzle, but the rear 'scope blocks have been replaced. Anschutz didn't make a discrete foresight block, rather all three were the same, even though the foresight tunnel doesn't engage the notch when mounted conventionally, with the insert clamp facing the shooter.

All the blocks that came on my 1411 are the same. I assume the front sight is original as well as its block. The rear block are the same as the front. I removed them since I was mounting a scope. My 1411 did not have a rear sight. At 79 there was no way I was attempting prone shooting so the strap mount was also removed. I just realized I bought it less than two years ago. Memory isn't what it used to be, I think.

This may be my most accurate 22 but I have not had a head to head contest with my 457 MTR. Maybe next week.

Harleyman, enjoy your Annie. I could be BMWman but eyes and age told me to give up two wheels. Ride safe. Keep the rubber side down.

T-pigeon, I would not disagree with your evaluation. I shot some groups with both yesterday and am happy with the results. I do not compete except with myself on the CZ scoped monthly challenge. Shot a 249 11x with the MTR on the "green monster" target at 25 yards. I have shot the 1411 to 100 yards as well as my 457 Varmint and At-one. The 1411 was a little tighter but not by much. Will try some more 100 yards shooting in a week or so.
