7-2 barrel re-glued

Took my BB to the gun smith in Feb. to
have him remove barrel and re-glued back into the receiver.
Got a call this week said it was done 👍
Talked to him a little bit said was a bugger
to remove and there was very little glue
from the factory.
Said see what happens no guaranty but
he did shoot it and had no point of
impact shift for him, said was a bit ammo
picky.
First test tomorrow morning and have two
scopes set up 🙏 to bring.
I have the rifle set up in the hunting configuration.
Trigger is set up for a 9oz break in the 2nd stage and the long slack in 1st stage.

I like your paint job on that stock. Regarding the re-glue, too bad the 'smith didn't take any pics of the barrel and receiver while they were disassembled. I'd like to know what's actually holding that barrel other than the glue. I don't think there are any actual pics of the barrel tenon and ID of the receiver ring on the site. One of my 7-2's probably can stand a re-glue as well. It shoots just fine, but I know the glue-up on this particular 7-2 is not 100% as it leaks quite a bit of oil/solvent from that joint. I store the rifle muzzle down in the safe, you can clearly see the leakage. Must be a lot of voids in the original factory glue application? What prompted you to have the re-glue done? Just curious is all:unsure:

Well read this, the new stock and trigger mod was all about getting this rifle to shoot more accurate to what I expect.

Here is a Biathlon Basic barrel taken out of the receiver and what it looks like.
Best illustration of what is going on with the glued in barrel, I printed the pictures and gave them to the gun smith last Feb.

I did a test drive last Sun. morning, very nice morning very little wind, temps in low 70's, but was humid.
Also took my CZ 452 Varmint and they both shot some targets for the fun matches here on RFC.
Both rifle's didn't like CCI Std V or Aguila Std V and both shot Norma Tac and RWS rifle match very well and my BB did not like SK std + and was strange has shot SK ammo very well in the past.
My CZ likes SK ammo quite well and did this morning also.
Now the BB is set up in the Sabol style stock that came with the rifle and is very good for hunting but not so good for bench rest shooting but was just a test.
over all it did quite well at 25 & 50 yards and I am not a big fan shooting group's all day long I am a bullseye target shooter and just shoot groups to zero scope in and see how precise the ammo is.
The BB did keep up with my CZ.
the USBR and star target was 25 yards and the rat was 50 yards.

Midwest-- Nice shooting and groups there(y). That rat is dead for sure:). If I could return briefly to your barrel re-glue, did you experience that "leakage" of solvents I mentioned earlier, at the barrel/receiver joint? And did the re-glue stop it? I realize the leakage does not hurt anything, it just bugs me a bit. This is certainly an indication of inadequate glue application in that joint on my rifle, and that the job was not done quite 100% correctly. Its interesting:unsure: the way Izhmash chose to retain the barrel on the 7-2, with that "shim" setup and all. It obviously WORKS though, the rifles do shoot accurately for sure. Anyway, I'll be giving my 7-2 a workout this weekend at a local CMP Rimfire Sporter match. Hope to do well.. We shall see.

Yep beats the heck out of me why they did
that to.
And why such a big bore tennion hole in the
receiver makes rebarreling a pain.
If your rifle is shooting good I wouldn’t worry
I am sure my CM-2 is the same and shoots darn good.
My BB would shoot good groups then the group
would shift then you would start chasing the
scope adjustment and thinking you had a bad
scope then try a different scope then a different
scope.
But it is my plan to buy a new scope and looking
at a Clearidge line of scopes.
My BB likes a soft squeeze on the trigger.
More testing to do.

MS-- It sure is a mystery why they did that.... Yah, my 7-2 IS shooting really good. And on occasion, sometimes the groups scare me a little in terms of just HOW good:eek:. As wonky as it seems, I managed to actually WIN a recent 40 shot for score, 100yd benchrest match with mine, but just barely... (1 point!!). I do shake my head, mainly in disbelief that I was actually able to score TWO of the 7-2's for $399 each from CDNN awhile back. I don't think I would sell either of them for even double that number. I also give thanks to the shooting gods every time I compete with it. I never feel I'm at a disadvantage against any sporter weight rifles that would be classified as "legal" for CMP matches, whether they be "sporter" or "benchrest" venues. Regarding the Clearidge scopes, never seen any "bad press" on those at all, I imagine you will be very happy with one. The 3x9 AO model certainly would be calling to me, if I didn't already have Nikon and Leupold 3x9 EFR's mounted up on my 7-2's. And roger that on more testing to do. Never ending process!

Ok transferred my action and barrel to my project stock.
First I installed my new trigger and turned the trigger pull weight spring a 1/2 turn and
took up just about all of the 1st stage slack out, trigger pull now 8 oz.
A fresh range picture with the BSA 4-16X50MM AO scope.
Total weight of rifle set up like this is 9.75 Lbs.

So I didn't know if I was going to the range this morning, not a nice day for test #2 but I thought what the heck.
Was 54* temp , cold front, 15-20 mph gusty switchy wind @ my back like 7-8 O clock usually will be a tuff day.
The range I am a member @ is a very nice range like a park and there is a 750 some max membership, is a 1/2 hr drive from my house.
So I am @ my range and there is only 2-3 people shooting @ the range, sunday morning and it happens allot....love love for only 120 bucks a year been a member since 1995.
So when I go to the range with these kind of conditions I certainly don't shoot my best ammo I have.
Started out shooting @ 25 yards with Aguila St V and CCI Std V and are new ammo to me, and they aren't the best POI likes to shift but they group ok.
Also shot some Blazer and Fed. 510 HV ammo and didn't shoot too bad, so I though what the heck lets shoot @ 50 yards.
Tried some Blazer @ 50 and for the conditions with the wind and all not to bad, CCI Std V shot about the same.
So thought lets try some Norma Tac -22 and see how it will do....wow it did darn good, OK let's dig out some of my good stuff RWS rifle match....shoots just a little better then Tac for me.
Glade I have 3 brick of the RWS rifle match, only 1 brick of the black box Tac left my BB sure shoots RWS ammo good.
The BB ran good no malfunctions what's so ever.
The project stock and the trigger up-date to a 7-3 & 7-4 is the real deal.
So far it is looking like the re-glue job was needed...well see.

MWS--VERY nice shooting! I call the "re-glue" a big success. I would be happy with that performance from my own 7-2's as well :) :). Shot one of mine recently in a CMP style Rimfire Sporter match, was leading the match and kicking butt with it until the offhand segments, then all went to "sheet"! But that's on me, NOT the rifle. I usually am pretty darn good in offhand, but just couldn't gitter done that day. Kudos to JSchell as well for making those toggle handles for us Izhmash owners. Love it!
