Hey y'all I'm Rick Parker out of south ga. I'm new here and this is my first post!
Yesterday was my birthday so I treated myself to a pawnshop purchase. I was looking for a friend a decent 22lr and seen several 597s on the wall. Spoke with the clerk about them and how much good luck I have had with them. Then he said they had a 17hmr up there to. I said I'll take it without even knowing the price yet. A semi auto 17hmr? Bought it for 180.00 out the door with a nikon scope and cci leadfree shells 16gr.
I loaded 5 shells into the mag to sight in the rifle. Fired 4 shells check-in the target each shot and loved it. Great feel, and consistent group. But the 5th shot was a doozey! The magazine blew the bottom off and cut my leg kind of bad. I'm baffled now having no clue as to what happened. Then I googled the 597magnum 17hmr and found the recall .
Question is should I return it or fix it? Please help
