I took my first trip to the range with my new 457 MTR to the range today just to sight in the Arken EP5 5-25x56 scope on the MDT 20 MOA rail. I still need to order match ammo, but I was pretty impressed with the Norma TAC-22 ammo and even the CCI SV ammo that I shot. I only shot at 25 yards because I had three other rifles to sight in (2 of them were also CZ's). I'm pretty impressed with this rifle. I picked it up from KYGUNCO as a blemished at what I thought was a very good price, but it appears perfectly factory new. I'm guessing it was a rifle that was on their retail rack and just wasn't handled much. Anyway, here are the results:

Norma TAC-22
Best 5 shot group: .108"
Worst 5 shot group: .288"
Average: .204"

CCI SV
Best 5 shot group: .346"
Worst 5 shot group: .546"
Average: .461"

I was shooting with a bipod and a sandbag under the buttstock and there was about a 10-15 mph crosswind. I'll try to get out again mid-week and take it out to 50 and 100 yards. I'm very impressed with that rifle and the Norma ammo. We'll see how it does at longer distances.

Yes, I'm sure it would have had a lot more impact had I been at longer yardages, I just didn't have time to take it to the other stations because I was sighting in the other rifles. I'm pretty shocked at that Norma TAC-22 ammo. That's the first time I've tried it and I'm pretty impressed. It did feel like it has some kind of lube on it, which surprised me.

I didn't check the part number but the link above does not indicate that these are the MTR variant of the VPC. Not that it's not a good deal but verify and know what your getting before buying. That said, theorgonal VPC (non MTR) only came in 16.5 and 24" as i recall. The MTR version was 20" but had the green chassis (which origonally sold near $1300 as I recall) . This could be an MTR 0r a standard 20" varmint barrel in a chassis. Im assuming the rifle you recievd has "Match" stamped into the barrel? If so, what was the CZ part number?

Is this the barrel that came on that one?
I think that this is the same barrel (it's 20", not 16.5"), but I'm not sure, my barrel says Match Barrel and I'm assuming that the barrel in the link would also be a Match Barrel, but CZ-USA description doesn't provide much detail. (Edit: Duh! MTR stands for Match Target Rifle, so yes, I'm sure that's the identical barrel, I should have known that)

How bad is the "blemish" on your rifle? I couldn't see it in the picture you posted.
The rifle looked brand new in the original CZ-USA box, I couldn’t find any blemish at all. Sometimes KYGUNCO buys a bulk buy at a significant discount & sells the guns as blemished. I don’t know if that’s what this is but it looked perfect to me.

That is a crazy good deal you got on that. Especially considering how hard they are to find. I just ordered one. Thanks for posting.

Anybody know if a L3I barrel would (or could with modification) fit in that HB chassis? No biggie if not….just curious.
