CZ 452 Grand Finale

Hello:

I love all the CZ's I own, and my Rimfire collection has blossomed very nicely. I just picked a 452 Grand Finale at a reasonable discount. For myself, I can justify the $1k price on just the wood alone. But taking everything as a whole (The engraving, jeweled bolt, the engraving on the supplied and very stout rings, The grain, the nice gold trigger and did I mention the grain!!!) this is a wonderful and worthwhile addition to my CZ collection.

If you are interested, I can upload some pictures (once I discover how to) and share with you the beauty of the 452 GF !!:)

Since this is your first post here, we will let you get by with no pics. !but don't let it happen again.:D If l can figure it out anybody can.

Seriously though, you are one of just a few that are impressed with the wood that we have seen on the GF and it would give the rest of us that have one ordered or thinking about it some hope.

Signalman,

If they were sending them out with anything close to the wood that's on your gorgeous 22 mag. there would be little hesitation or concerns involved.:bthumb:

I've only seen one 452 with stock wood that l like better than yours and last l heard, it still wasn't for sale. I think you know the one I'm speaking of.;)

Wonderdog1 sir yes there is only one that we speak of...and yes I would buy it in a heart beat if he ever offered it for sale...I guess its time to remind him I still want it. ;)

I would be more interested in getting a GF if it came in 17hmr. CZ has always made their limited runs of nice rifles in 22lr and 17hmr. but I am very happy with way I have so far...the wood only makes it easier on the eyes and does nothing for accuracy. But when you get one like mine with fantastic wood and shoots lights out...I should have bought a lottery ticket. ;)

it's funny I looked this morning and of the 3-4 GF I found on GB none of them show a picture of them at all....if they fantastic wood on them and I was trying to sell one....there would be 20 photos of it so I could get the best price for it.

I am surprised that CZ did not make them all with knock your socks off stocks...it would be great for their bottom line and boost the word of mouth...nation wide...of course the price would have gone through the roof...the one that has all the stripes on it would have gone up to big bucks if there was a bidding war on that one. I would have jumped in myself...if that was the case....even though I don't want or need a 22lr.

:Welcome: peper, beautiful rifle you have there.....:bthumb:

To upload photos you need a host such as photobucket or Imgur, RFC was lucky to have a young fellow post instructions for both, links below.

CZ 455 Grand Finale

Here is the best bang for the buck CZ that I possess. The 455 American in a synthetic stock that was on sale at Bud's one night for $297 (I had an additional $10 coupon that was applied). I am a huge fan of the Nikon Prostaff EFR scope and the BKL 257 med rings. The scope can be purchased from Amazon for $185 delivered, the rings are $20 direct. This combo shoots as well as any CZ Rimfire in my aresenal.

I was completely stunned at 50 yds, that it could be so repeatable in its accuracy, I cannot recommend a better starter or addition to your collection!! :thumb:

Update CZ 455 GF

The good news is that the rings that come with the GF are very heavy duty and all steel.

The bad news is they do not fit. They will not tighten down on the 11mm dovetail. I took a set of my "go to" BKL 257, and they fit just fine. Its clear that the CZ supplied rings will not tighten down enough to "grip" the rail! After comparing the BKL and CZ rings side by side (actually upside down, side by side) you can see that the CZ supplied rings are just too wide to tighten down adequately. :(

I will contact CZ on Monday to see how to remedy the issue.

Thank you all for your kind words regarding my CZ sickness (collection).

Peper2112;

Oh boy, I'd do some very careful measuring if I were you. All 452 Americans were supposed to have CZ's version of a 3/8th's inch rail. If your rail is an actual 11 mm, then we have proof of another CZ oddity. However, if your rail is the proper American type, then perhaps you've got a set of 527 rings.

The next question is, are all the G.F.'s 11 mm? Or are we going to see a mix? Or will yours be a possible one-off or a member of a tiny minority? This could prove to be very interesting.

CZ 455 Grand Finale

Well, let me state the facts so Im not confusing myself or anyone else.

The rings have ZKM 452 marked on them. To the best of my recollection and after taking a quick look at the CZ website, all 452's/455's use the 11mm dovetail.
I have always used the BKL 257 rings for all of my CZ Rimfire scope installs.

These do look very much like the rings that came with my 527 Royal Centerfire rifle, but I do not have it handy to make a comparison.

They actually slide on without an issue, but they will not tighten down anywhere near as much as they need to. And when comparing to the BKL's, they are clearly too wide even after tightening as much as is allowed.

p.s. After looking more carefully at the CZ website, I see the American takes 3/8" rings...so this makes it even more interesting. I will call CZ on Monday and speak to them and get some clarity.

I expect the 452 GF to have CZ's 3/8" dovetail. If you measure across the top of the dovetail it should measure ~0.50". If it measures ~0.43" then it is an 11mm dovetail.

It looks like to me that the rings are for a 11mm dovetail and the Grand Finale is 3/8 inch as it should be. That is why they will not tighten down enough. I see no part number on my package. BKL will go either way.
I disagree that the OP received 11mm rings. The location of the dovetail cut and the angle of the clamp plate indicate they are for the 3/8" dovetail. Further, 11mm rings are narrower than 3/8" rings, which would not present the symptoms the OP described. Following are pictures of CZ rings for the 11mm dovetail for comparison.

OP,

If your rings don't clamp, it's likely an issue specific to your rings and your receiver - tolerances, if you will, not in your favor. The polished and engraved rings are only made for and shipped with the GF, so it's not surprising that there's a delay in obtaining replacements.

If you feel so inclined, the rings you received with your GF could easily be made to fit your receiver - a gunsmith could make the final fitting in short order.

Nice rifle, by the way.
