Your opinion on a listing price Ruger 10/222 MPN 31161 stock

So gents I'm in my LGS and he has a Ruger model MPN 31161( Mule deer laser etched )on the rack. So we barter some stuff and I'm now the owner of a beautiful rifle. I'm a lefty and as you know the stock is definitely made for a right hand shooter. The stock does have a ding or nick on one high spot from being put in and out of the rack at the shop. That's only flaws I can see. The barrel and receiver are now destined for another project and I thought I'd sell the stock to purchase another stock and barrel. What would be a fair price to ask for this stock ? That is if it is something someone would want or have to have. Thanks in advance.

Boy, that's a tough question ND. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and to the right beholder that could easily be a $100 stock, maybe more.

You can always put it in the Marketplace with a price of $XXX or best offer and see if you get any bites. Edit: $XXX means put in whatever real price you think it's worth.

Every ad has to have a real sell price and we don't allow auctions Toomany22s but as far as I know there is nothing preventing a seller from noting "or best offer" in the ad text. Lots of transactions end up being negotiated to best offer, at least mine have.

Are you seeing something that says different? Trading Post Rules & Policies

If you do let me know, I make mistakes all the time and appreciate correction!

Sorry, Xs or 1 or 1234 or 100000000 are not real asking prices, and best offers imply an auction in my book. But i know this is std op procedure , so i ll defer to you

You misunderstood my post Toomany22s, I wasn't suggesting NJHojo put XXX's in for the actual price. I was suggesting he pick a price (represented by the XXXs because I don't know what it's worth.) and add an, "or best offer to the ad text.

For me, taking a beautiful piece of wood and vandalizing it with a laser is blasphemy but I don't want to talk bad about another guy's stock.
We're on the same page

It was obvious to me that your XXXs were not an open pricing question (auction) but that you didn't want to suggest a listing price. Beyond that, while the RFC Trading Post doesn't allow auctions, many, many listed prices are negotiated to something different (ask me how I know :)).

You're doing just fine friend, don't mind us we're just discussing sausage making :)

Put it in the marketplace for $150 or $200 and see what happens. Won't cost you anything!
