I'm not familiar with the size of the spring that you need since all of my 52's are B's models, but Brownells has spring stock kits of different size and weight over pin springs. You get a bag of about 18 different springs--I think it's two of each diameter and they are each about one foot long--you just find a size that works and cut off what you need. If you'll look in a Brownell's catalog under springs, you should find it. If you do not have a Brownell's catalog, I'll be glad to look for you, if you will give me the diameter of the spring and the length and approximate spring wire size. Or, try Brownell's.com online--the info may be on the site. Let me know if I can help.

If you'll mike that spring and give me the measurements in thousandths--and also the inner diameter, I'll see if I have anything that will work as a substitute. I'm guessing it'll be hard to find and original spring--shucks, a spring is a spring--as long as it works and has enough tension it should be ok. Sounds like you're going to have a fine rifle there. Rust blueing is my favorite finish--but I haven't done any of that in a few years--I used to restore a lot of side by sides and Model 12's and 97 Winchesters. Let me know if I can help. I may have something that'll work.
