I read of a conversion some years ago:
Weight was added to the rear of the bolt, the inside of the frame was opened up to allow a larger mag., the ejection port was widened and quite a few other things were done.
While I admire the dedication to accomplish such a feat, I thought the finished product was ugly as (expletive deleated)!
I'd rather convert an AMT automagII to 17HMR!
