Ruger M77/22

mudpuppy,

For your intended use, why not get a "Ruger" M77/22 with a very nice scope [with AO], and still have enough left to buy a case of your [its] favorite ammo......! ! :D

Ruger M77/22

Model 77/22-R
Capacity: 10 Rounds
Finish: Blued
Stock/Grip: American Walnut
Barrel Length: 20"
Rear Sight: None [Rings Included]

If the accuracy isn't up to your expectations, have Randy at "CPC" do his 'magic' on it......! !

Just my thoughts......! ! ;)

I've had all three...several of some....after my experiences with Cooper....unless you just want to look at it and not shoot it I'll pass.....the Kimbers.....some were great....the older ones seems to be better built and more precise in the details than the new versions....BUT I haven't done much with the new ones and most of the opinion on the new ones is from my dealer who has been a Kimber dealer for most of the companies existance...the Anschutz in the 54 action......fantastic shooter, decent wood-stock available-trigger very nice and adjustable.........accurate!!!!.....I'd get a 54 Anschutz and have Cooper stock it in a classic upgrade stock.......best of both worlds.......??????again some one else may have had different experiences with the guns...I also had one of the Dakotas 22's and a 40X repeater Sporter...should have kept it........and several old and current 52's........o so sweet!!!!!!!and all had their good points and I'm sure a "dog" has been had in all of them.....hope you find your dream shooter....good luck and good shooting!!

which rimfire

You may want to save even more money and look into a CZ American. Well built, accurate, good looking and 350 dollars. The triggers are also easily modified with a kit from Brookie. Good shooting with whatever you decide to get.

Of the three you listed, Cooper, Kimber and Anschutz, I would pick the Anschutz in the 54 action. Solid gun, accurate, great trigger and just fun to shoot. You do not hear about many if any that are bad or have problems. Even old ones bought off the internet, still shoot good. The other two seem to be a hit or miss thing as to accuracy. That my thoughts.

Anschutz Warning!

Somehow I bought a 1710D Meistergrade and put a good scope on it. I thought I was nuts. The house needed remodeled, I was driving an 84 Olds, and my truck was a '92 F 1-50.

Now I have another 1710D, a 1720D, and a 1717D, all Meistergrades.

My house still needs remodeled but it's warm, dry (except the back porch), and there's plenty to eat.

My 84 Olds gets me to the range.

My 92 F-150 gets me to the woods.

And I love to shoot my Anschutz! And wouldn't hesitate to get another one.

None of the above....

I'd go with a Volquartsen.

Of course, if you're looking for a bolt gun, I'd probably go with the Anschutz or that site that John listed. Those guns seem to shoot very well. :t

That's easy--Kimber. I have two and I love 'em--they shoot well-have great triggers and most of all they are balanced perfectly which makes them feel great and allows you to actually shoot them better in the woods. I have most of the choices you described and while I am a big 52 Winchester fan--the Kimber is the one I take hunting. I thionk there's very little difference in the accuracy in the Anschutz Sporters and the Kimber Classics--as the man said there's dogs in all of them--and there is still one Monday in every week!! My friends Kimber beats his beautiflu Meistergrade Anschutz--who'd of thunk it??? They all are very good rifles--whichever feels best to you is the most important. Don't rule out the CZ's--they shoot!!!
