When you say "reworked" what exactly do you mean. Re-crowning a barrel is an easy repair and just about any gunsmith worth the title can do that. Depending on how much work is involved in what you have in mind for re-working, it might end up being worth just buying a quality replacement barrel that will most likely out-shoot your factory barrels.
Unless you have some historical and emotional attachment to a factory barrel, I would never put $$ into a factory barrel. Been there done that and it was a waste of money, time and energy. You just will never get your money out of it. I would just do a Feddersen Tapered

Does your recommendation include Ruger T - "target hammer-forged heavy (.920") bull barrel"?

Got 2, came with donor rifles I bought relatively cheap, didn't shoot them enough or in conditions where I would be able to assess their potential, but was considering asking Randy if he would take a swipe at them just to see what happens. I also got 2 uninstalled KIDDs and a Lilja that I'm still meditating on the platform for, so not hurting for barrels in general.

Anyone with an opinion, or better yet, experience:cool:, please chime in as well!:)

I have a T barrel on this rifle. Nothing has been done to the barrel or the receiver. The receiver is bedded properly and I replaced the trigger with a VQ Trigger pack. Bolt is stock except I pinned the firing pin with a roll pin.
Wood Table Wood stain Hardwood Plant

This rifle is capable of groups like this.
Line Circle Pattern Font Metal

Same rifle, same ammo at 90 yards. My range is notorious for people not looking what id behind their target, hence the crossed out hole.
Font Fence Pattern Parallel Drawing

I hunt prairie dogs up to 90 yards with this rifle and ammo. Like others, I would not waste money on the stock barrel and if it is a T, there is nothing wrong with it.

when you talk to Randy about those T Barrels, see if he still does his taper job...I think they look pretty sweet, and have been thinking of sending him one or two of my barrels to have the procedure done to them, for what seems like forever

… a stainless LVT of sorts (y)👍😎

… also, performance-wise, Varmint/heavy taper barrels deserve more respect than they get imo - one of my most accurate rifles is a 457 with a varmint taper Lilja👍😎
Sometime you have something you love and just want work done. I get it. I threaded a TC Contender .22LR Match barrel which was a proven laser and had a threaded hex Henry Big Boy barrel threaded since there was no other option.
