I do the shopping (according to instructions ;)), she does the cooking, and I fill the dishwasher!

We keep it simple since it's just my wife and me:

Turkey Breast - no stuffing or 'dressing' but plenty of gravy
Mashed potatoes
Corn
Dinner Rolls
Crustless pumpkin pie with ice cream and whipped cream

My daughter brow beat me into going to her house for Thanksgiving, the grandkids both called saying I had to come. My niece called to say, I was welcome to come eat, if not, at least for dessert and see the family for a few minutes. So the Spam will have to keep. Ajax The Cat was not invited, this could be a problem, slipping away without his knowledge, means dangerous times ahead. Maybe some turkey meat as a peace offering??

Edit - T-day will be sausage/beef lasagna from Costco, daughter’s BF has Covid, so everything is on hold

Besides the usual stuff, we always make mashed turnips and key lime pie. The turnips are in honor of my dad who joined the Canadian Merchant Navy in 1939 before the USA got into the war. He had never eaten turnips and loved them once he got them at every meal with the Canadians. Key lime pie is just out South Florida heritage but I prefer my pecan pie made with real molasses!

I don’t regret many things in life…But this diminutive 11.5 lb turkey lacks the size that offers the wonderful sense of occasion. No more small turkeys. What was I thinking? I love leftovers.

Going to try something different this year, instead of solely seasoning with wet and dry (spice and seasoning blend with melted butter) in the cavity and outside the turkey, I’ll be doing some seasoned melted butter injections into the meaty parts as well. Let’s see how it goes.

Still haven’t settled on how to approach the sweet potato + praline conundrum…But I will be making dressing from scratch via 2 homemade rustic boules🤓👍
