Having 2 Thanksgivings on Thanksgiving, one at noon and one at 4. My mom still does lots of cooking, so at my parents' house it'll be:
Roasted turkey
Mashed potatoes
Hamburger gravy
Chicken and noodles
Rolls
Baked Mac n cheese
Green beans with ham
Stuffing
Apple and pumpkin pie.
Everything down to the pasta in the Mac made from scratch.
I'll take fried Cali blend veggies, mesquite smoked turkey breast and whatever homemade cheesecake I decide to make.

At #2 with the in-laws I do most of the cooking. M-I-L doesn't cook much, so F-I-L only gets home cooked when I make stuff. So far I know I'm taking:
Mesquite smoked turkey
Roasted turkey breast
Mashed potatoes
Gravy-TBD
Chicken and noodles
Rolls
Broccoli casserole
Twice baked potatoes
Cheesecake
Baby fried apple pies.
I use my mom's recipe for noodles and rolls, the rest I've made up my own.

Jack.....hop on a plane and fly to Houston. You are more than welcome to join us. I'll pick you up and you can stay with me while you are here. You're only out the plane ticket. Be glad to have you.
Thanks for the offer!!, I may hunker dow and semi-hide, since my wife passed, my daughter has given up her normal routine, to for what it seems to babysit me. I don’t really care about holidays, I want her and the grandkids to enjoy themselves, not be burdened by me. I’d really prefer seeing them on the weekend before or after. Her staying home cooking because of me, seems a bit too much.

Interesting how many guys are cooking. Guess the wife slaving away to cook thanksgiving is no longer true.
I learned a how to do a lot of things intentionally just so I'd never have to rely on anyone to do them for me. Now I know how to do a bunch of crap that a lot of people rely on me to do. I think there's some irony there somewhere.

My mom was a murder mystery fan, and so I became one too. The first thing I learned was , cook my own food.

..."wonders if Amazon will ship Jack & The Cat a complete dinner..."?

Early Early Friday AM gotta drive (2 hours) to mom's house & spend the day packing up stuff for the Hospice thrift store.

There's a lot to unpack in that endeavor physically & emotionally.

Having Thanksgiving at my sister and brother-in-law's house. It is always a combined gathering with his family as well. Our immediate family is small and so is his so it makes a nice sized group. Honestly over the years our families just operate like one anyhow. We all get along well for the most. We will have too much to eat. We are a fortunate bunch and thankful for that.

We're turkey and hammed out as the church sent us a couple of thanksgiving plates which I carried to the hospital where the wife's still recovering from 2 broken legs plus she's been served basically the same meal a couple of times there. We may have pizza, burgers or something easy I can carry to her.
We usually boil shrimp and grill steaks or ribs for thanksgiving and Christmas but not this year.
