Are dead set on a Savage? Your subject line says Savage, but if it doesn't have to be Savage, I suggest you try a CZ 452 in the configuration you like. CZ's are highly accurate and you wont have to spend an additional $70 plus to get a decent trigger.
hmmmm, he put this thread in the savage forum and he asked "what savage should i get". But you want him to buy a plain stock sporter barreld CZ for around $100 more? I don't get it.
I would suggest the savage mk II LV (BV). I have one and it shoots great for the money. plus you get a heavy barrel laminated stock and weaver style bases. The only thing you need to do is replace the spring in the trigger and you are fine.
Tony, You are right. His subject line said Savage, but from the body of his post,it sounded like he might be leaning towards any bolt action. No harm intended on my part. Maybe I just mis-interpreted the question.
Hi tasco 74 I also vote Mark II BV ( LV if it is pre 2003 same gun ) I bought mine used with scope and love it! I have a 17 HMR with the heavy barrel hardwood stock on order. Good luck to you .
We took my friends Mark11 out this morning and tried all the ammo we had and ended up with Wolf (Extra Match) shooting very well about 1 1/4" 10 shot groups at 100 yds.
He is very happy with it!!!!!!!!
