Date code is L AA = February 1954 the last of the ungrooved receivers. Around June of the same year Remington started grooving the receivers.
The Date code itself is unique. All year date codes prior to 1954 had two letters (WW, XX, YY, etc.) This early example continued the trend, but later - again around June they dropped the AA and just stamped them with a single A.
