I bought some at Walmart before the last great ammo scarcity and haven't found any there since so have no clue about pricing. I wish they would get some more as I found it to be the most accurate HMR I've ever used.

The A17 200 packs have always been more expensive than buying 4- 50 round boxes, even before ammo was scarce. Seems like an odd business practice.
I think they know that there is a lot of people that never do the math, and they profit from it. Just like in the grocery store, the big bottle of ketchup isn't always the cheapest when you break down what each once costs.

It is my understanding that the A-17 round is about a 100 fps faster
than a standard round. So it's not like for like. Is that worth the extra
$ amount is for you to decide.

I have chron'd 3 different lots of the A17 (30-35 shots each) with results of 2833, 2845 and 2866 fps avg. They say 2650 fps so around 200fps faster than advertised.

Also chrono'd 2 different lots of CCI TNT HP and 2 different of Federal TNT HP (made by CCI). Same chrono, same number of shots, etc. Results were 2837 and 2817 fps avg for the CCI and 2828 and 2816 fps avg for Federal. All well above advertised at 2550 fps.

The 2 different lots of CCI V-Max were clocked at 2858 and 2822 fps based on 2550 advertised.

CCI VNT is advertised at 2650 fps, same as the A17, FWIW.

Seems all the 17HMR I've tested has a lot more giddyup than advertised :bthumb:.

All were shot thru an Anschutz 1717HB with 23" barrel.
