I know that by saying that I'm considering buying a gun at Wal Mart will open me up for all kinds of flack. But nevertheless, I'm considering it. My question is this: Can Wal Mart generally order ANY available firearm, or can they only order those rifles that they generally stock? I'm wondering also if their price would be any less than a typical dealer, since it might be a model that they don't normally stock in mass quantity. It's hard to beat Wal Mart for price on 10/22, and any of several other guns they normally stock...

Generely wal-mart has good prices on guns from what I see. Went to wal-mart for the same reason. Wanted to see if they could get the basic stainless model. The guy there said it wasn't on his list so he couldn't order it. Went to another wal-mart & saw there K10/22-22 stainless model. Was exactly what i was looking for except it didn't have a walnut shock. So I was going to buy it. The reciever had some machining marks on the front of it, small but looked like hell. He orded another one & it came in perfect. Love it. Called Ruger about it. Exclusive to wal-mart & they will only run that model for a year or 2 & come out with another special run for wal-mart. The stock keep coming loose. Ruger is sending another lock washer for the stock. It was missing. Couldn't be more pleased with the gun!!!!!!!!

I just happend to just buy the K-10/22-22 Stainless. Looks great. A great shooter too. I've shot 300 rds of some cheepo ammo tru it. No stovepiping whatsoever. Amazing, because the first time I worked the bolt, it sounded like it had sand in it. I have no problems with Wally World.

impressed

My buddy showed up last night with that same Wall-MArt 10/22-22. I was impressed with the stock allot! Stock was much better suited to an adult, Wood was decient and checkering was SHARP instead of cheap pressed work. ( Nicer than my 10/22/ delux!) It was nice enough where all he'd have to do is open the barrel channel if he wanted to go with a bull barrel at some point.

I got my 10/22 at Wal-mat (see link below) and it's been fantastic.

I had to try a couple of different stores to find one in stock and a couple of places I telephoned didn't seem to know their arse from their elbow, but the rifle is excellent.

WalMart

WalMart bashing does seem to be in style but I wonder how many of those guys ( or their wives) still shop there ?
I ordered a Marlin 39A from Wallyworld and had no problems .
The order book has a large selection of guns to choose from and the prices are very competetive . My wife works there , so that 10% employee discount helps too !!!!!

I've bought a few "new" twentytwos at Wally World, and like them. I figured I needed some new ones to compare my old ones to. I inquired about ordering some models that they didn't have on the shelf. The book has a pretty good selection. They can order others, but if it's not carried at the regional supplier, it can take awhile to get it. People were waiting months for the Marlin 17's last year.

"I looked at a 10/22-22 at walmart today and the checkering was total crap, i would rather have the regular stock."

Hmm, I wonder if Ruger has a QA issue? The one my buddy got seemed to have been actually cut vs pressed. Some of the nicest "production" checkering I've seen on a sub $600 gun.
