Hello to all,

I just bought a Volquartsen recoil buffer for my 10-22 and boy was it sure tough to get in!!! I was just wondering if anyone had the same bad experience with this buffer? Man I had to use a punch and under allot of hand pressure tio insert it into the receiver. What a bad experience! It tooki me almost 15 minutes of hassle to get this thing in. Are they all this tough????

I got one about a month ago and it just slid in. If the reciever is out of the stock and you turn the gun on it's side it will fall out...
Put a VQ buffer in a new receiver recently and it was tight, so I rubbed a little Break Free on it, got it started by hand and then gave it a light tap or two with my small plastic tipped hammer and it went right in. Took about 1 minute.
hello guys,

Thank you all for your postings. I guess the dimensions vary between those buffers. I wish mine was that easy. Next time I'll try the oil trick.

A few drops of oil greatly improve your chances of getting it in easily. Also twist as you insert it.

swampfox,

Thanks for the imput. In the future I'll try that trick. Since it's already installed
I'll rest better until it get some rounds through it.

Got one of the ShockStop buffers when I ordered my WP bbl and it required a bit of whacking to get it through completely. All but a little bit - may 1/16 wouldn't go. Scored the hole and eventually it went in.
a little spit goes a long way....

TxRabbitBane,

Spit, oil, grease or what ever. I'll try all those things next time I remove it for bolt maintenance. Now all I wonder is how long will these last? Anyone know?
