JH. I, too, am glad your package was waiting for you. I'd think this would be worth a "complaint" ... not just a call to their 800#, but a short documenting --not 'critical'-- paper-note sent to Mgr of the local distribution site. HAD it been 'stolen', there would be a lot of finger-pointing and some of it by the DA (not Double-Action) ... another incident that didn't happen... --toyfj40jh45gun said:

Well as I stated I got excellent service from Henry on my gun I wish I could say the same about UPS. Henry Emailed me when the gun was shipped back and included the tracking number. I checked up on the tracking and they said they would deliver FRI the 10th ( Tomorrow) SO I went fishing today and stopped by the gunsmiths a friend of mine to BS a bit. Well fishing was good I got a limit of nice broook trout and when I got home I opened the door and there was my rifle between the screen door and the regular door. Well needless to say I was not impressed as any one could have come along and taken my rifle at least it was still there. I would think that UPS would have had to have me sign off on it they do with any other gun I have had sent to me. Well Like I said at least it was still there. Since I live in a apt complex any one could have seen my truck gone and seen the delivery and made off with it. Glad no one did. Jim

I'd definitely let them know. I sent my daughter a gift a few years back and they did the same thing, they left it by the front door and it was stolen. Wasn't an expensive gift, though. You were extremely lucky....
Yea I called UPS and complained and they said there should have been a adult signature tag on the box and there was not. I told them the driver should have known better tag or no tag as the same guy is the same driver that delivers to the gun shop every day so he should know what a gun box looks like expecially one that says Henry on it. I told UPS that too.
I understand your concerns, Jim. That said, let me tell you "the other side" of that story. My wife and I both work, but we live in a very secure neighborhood. UPS has NEVER delivered a firearm to my house without requiring an adult signature, and I wish they would. Since 99% of the time we are both gone when the UPS truck arrives, I always get the yellow "we tried to deliver" tag on the door. Guess what? The local UPS depot is only open to the public from 11 A to 3 P each day. Guess what I do during the day? Guess what my wife does? UPS won't deliver on a Saturday unless it is shipped "next day Saturday" delivery, at an extra cost of $25.00+ for a firearm. PITA for sure. Hope this makes you feel better, Jim...
This past week UPS shipped tapes to Texas that contained credit information and SS numbers of thousands of customers and LOST them. duh!
My question is: Why would any company ship such sensitive information by common carrier?.

I understand that sucks Old Swede but did you ever think on getting a friend/trusted neigbor/ or relative to be there to sign for it. Unless they were really concerned about being liable I do not see where it would be a problem. UPS usually is pretty tight on their deliverys time wise at least they are here so you could find out when approximatly they would deliver. Jim

out here in the boonies, while it is pretty safe, OOPS will leave a package inside the door if it is open, otherwise it is left on the porch. once, i had a package sitting on the front seat of my rig. they are on time as far as the DAY, but hard to say at what time of day. depends on the route i guess. never had to sign for anything, not even ammo.
You are supposed to sign for guns it is in their regulations and it has to be a adult some one over the age of 18. If you go to the UPS website you will see that in print. That is one reason why I figure it had to have a tag when Henry shipped it as if it did not I would think the Driver would have picked it up.That driver on that end WOULD HAVE TO KNOW IT WAS A GUN and I would think make sure the tag was on it before he took it. Henry told me that They tag it before it leaves the place I would tend to believe that as the driver on that end would not take it if it was not. sorry for any confusion. guns go to my FFL holder here in town. was referring to everyday packages.
