Well, i put on a 3-9x40 tasco scope on my rifle for about ~$70 (with base and some nice rings) It sure makes it fun for me. I dont plan on being in competition, so glass that costs more than the rifle was way out of the question. You can always remove the scope if you dont like it, then if ya change your mind, a few screws and its back 
but you will love it.
