WELCOME TO THE WATERING HOLE

A stress-free place to gather and share whatever is on your mind! A fun place of mutual respect where you can hang your hat, vent, relax and shoot the bull for a while!

Happy Easter to all who celebrate that faith.

To all others, Happy Spring!

Easter symbolizes a new beginning, so it is fitting that TWH has a new beginning as well!
Along with RFC, TWH has been remodeled!

Actually, it can be anything you imagine it to be!

I am happy to announce that due to the increased bandwidth of the new RFC, there is no longer a need for the weekly closing and re-opening of TWH!!! After 10+ years of weekly "flipping" we now get to keep the doors open continuously! My sincere thanks to our moderators, especially Sophia, for making this possible!

I would also like to thank all the members who have kept this boat afloat for so long! We have become like family here, and now have a permanent residence! (y) While we have many long-time members who have been enjoying the company found in this amazing virtual bar, we also welcome all new folks. Jump right in! The first drink is always on the house and Veterans always have an open bar!
Al The Infidel (Tubby Slayer extraordinaire) is the bar manager.

So, let's get this re-opening celebration going! Set 'em up, Al! Drinks all around!!!

The Stihl 550 S started on the second pull for the first weed whacking of the year. Only did around the house and a few trees Josey frequents.

The Belle took this Sunday night with her Cannon Power Shot point and shoot.

Good picture. (y)
I was trying to find the episode with one of the mandrell sisters but no luck.
I remember some pro baseball players on the show. Especially Rally Fingers
Thinking of Starshot and celebrity shooters.

For several years I worked The Shot Show for our companies pet care group (sporting dog type product) our booth was next to the Hi Viz booth for those year. They always had their celebrity shooter Leslie Easterbook, most noted for the well built blonde in the Police Academy movies.

What a super nice lady, she went to college in Columbia MO and played in the KC symphony for a few years. So we had some geography in common. Every year she would sign photos to show goers and fans. After a couple years she would greet me with a hug and we would talk during lull, that year she signed my photo with..”great to spend the weekend together in Vegas” I put the photo up in my office. There were questions from co-workers.

She still looks pretty good.

Werk went well.
The Owner is doing a good job.
He's still got some issues to handle, but he's on top of it.
Inventory went very well.

Wow, . . . , The above was supposed to be posted yesterday, but I guess I forgot to hit reply.

Woke up this morning feeling like schlect. Felt horrid most of the day. Starting to feel better now.

Karens starting to feel poorly. She's not going to rehersal.

Probably just a bug.

All caught up on the Youtube viewing.

Went for a bike ride today. It was a longer one than the last (not that difficult) and was great. More required. Strangely didn't hear any action from the public range which is not far away from the bike path, so obviously a Slow Day there.

Ended range day with being recognized by another member who knew/met me over twenty years ago when he twas just a youngster on my paintball team. We were semi-pro and it was a good run, and lots of good memories. He’s getting into the long range shooting sport so might be seeing more of him should he decide to pursue PRS. Speaking of long range shooting, met with bud and shared with him much as far as long range shooting. The interest in LRS is growing with lots of new stuff from the industry from what I gather from coverage at the 2022 Shot Show. Ended the day with another bud seeking pointers in LRS as he’s wanting to pursue three gun, so we now both have a two/three gun event traveling ie car pooling buddy in each other. He’s an accomplished pistol shooter and I didn’t want to offend him so inquired what his ability level was when it comes to long guns and long distances thus permitting me to develop a lesson plan. Have been fortunate with folks showing me the ropes so helping others gives me the opportunity to repay that debt.

I seem to be running out of cow jokes….has anyone herd any lately?🤔

It turns out my absence resulted in the addition of another dog to the pack. Well, sorta-kinda. Long story short, a gal living about three miles away as the buzzard flies works in a town about an hour away. For a time, when she went off to work in the morning her dog went on walkabout and showed up at Hacienda Sophia. TMIMITW sez she just let herself in and lounged on the porch like she belonged there.

She had a collar but the split ring holding the tag had been pulled apart so she was traveling incognito. TMIMITW threw the dog in the truck and drove her around until he found someone who recognized her. That someone called the owner who called TMIMITW and made arrangements to collect the dog on the way home from work.

Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

TMIMITW puts on a hard shell but he's a soft touch. After a few days of this he said he told the gal he was concerned for the dog's safety on her daily jaunt and suggested the gal just drop her off in the morning and pick her up in the afternoon. And so it is. He hasn't let her in the house but says she follows him around as on a bungie cord when he is out and about. When he is in the house the dog lounges right outside the kitchen door, apparently content just to keep tabs on him from there. The other dogs have apparently accepted her as part of the pack.

And so it is.... somewhere between joint custody and "doggie daycare." It's a temp arrangement but not sure what the parameter on "temp" is. Until she gets her fences dog proof? Until she can begin working from home? Until she retires? Until TMIMITW runs off with her? Dunno.

Mrs Sails was reading today about a couple that woke up to find a strange, but very friendly, dog asleep on the bed with their other dogs. The door bell rang, so I missed whether the new one had a home to go to afterwards or whether it simply was absorbed into the existing pack.

Welcome back Sophia, we missed ya!

Well that was interesting!!!

If TMIMITW ever ran off with someone other than you, he would instantly become TSMITW!

Glad to see you back! (y) :)

Happy Anniversary to you both Kevin!!

One of my dock installers is being extra flaky and says he's NA for a couple weeks at least, wouldn't say why. I do know he's young, sick of being a prison guard, and his GF was pregnant as of last fall so who knows how thats playing out on the home front. Dock's a 2 man job and bodies are hard to find round the shack so I'll have to doing some serious rootin around for a dock installer trainee if I want to fish when the upcoming weather breaks. sigh!
