WELCOME TO THE WATERING HOLE

A stress-free place to gather and share whatever is on your mind! A fun place of mutual respect where you can hang your hat, vent, relax and shoot the bull for a while!

Happy Easter to all who celebrate that faith.

To all others, Happy Spring!

Easter symbolizes a new beginning, so it is fitting that TWH has a new beginning as well!
Along with RFC, TWH has been remodeled!

Actually, it can be anything you imagine it to be!

I am happy to announce that due to the increased bandwidth of the new RFC, there is no longer a need for the weekly closing and re-opening of TWH!!! After 10+ years of weekly "flipping" we now get to keep the doors open continuously! My sincere thanks to our moderators, especially Sophia, for making this possible!

I would also like to thank all the members who have kept this boat afloat for so long! We have become like family here, and now have a permanent residence! (y) While we have many long-time members who have been enjoying the company found in this amazing virtual bar, we also welcome all new folks. Jump right in! The first drink is always on the house and Veterans always have an open bar!
Al The Infidel (Tubby Slayer extraordinaire) is the bar manager.

So, let's get this re-opening celebration going! Set 'em up, Al! Drinks all around!!!

Went to a "gender reveal" party yesterday. I immediately figured out I had completely misunderstood the whole thing when I was the only one there not wearing any clothes.

Dare I say it . . . . . .

The Winchester Super X mod 1 trap gun will be coming home with me soon. Too good of deal to pass up and a very nice specimen. A good cleaning of the gas system and an order of spare o-rings will be needed as it’s crusty in there. Don’t recall ever seeing them when made but it was Winchesters last shotgun of quality and it has been said they lost $100 per gun making them. Worthy of owning and eventually sending out for choke tube install.
Lincoln’s head was showing about the same for a Winchoked modified setting close by so perhaps the trap barrel was reamed out slightly. Missing the wire spring for shell catcher will have to see if one can be fabricated.

Out early and got shopping, picked up prescriptions, and got a haircut. Very productive morning. Rain has moved out but returning tomorrow night.

A lot of those fixed full choke bbl.'s get or have been opened up for 16 yd shooting, and firms have specialized in doing that for decades, so it wouldn't be surprising to find it has been done to that bbl. as well.

My advice is to verify its POA & POI, ASAP. You can check the pattern at the same time. Then to simply shoot it as is, if all you are going to use it for is sporty clay shooting or the occasional round of trap, if the POA & POI are acceptable. The quality [tightness] of patterns is affected greatly by the hardness and sphericity of the shot, not just choke constriction. Shot generally available for reloading is not as high a quality/hard as that used in factory trap loads, so reloads typically throw more open patterns thru the same bbl. and choke than premium trap loads. Odds are you will not be handicapped using it for sporty clays, but should you want 'open' patterns, then just load purposely deformed shot in your reloads. You can accomplish that easily by pouring shot in an old cookie sheet w/a rim on it on a solid concrete floor, placing a steel plate of some thickness over the shot and then giving that steel cover a few fraps w/a suitable bludgeoning device, like a 16# sledgehammer, or you could fabricate a 'shot deformer' tray for use on a hydraulic press, if you have one. Europeans have used cartridges factory loaded w/deformed shot for their 'spreader' loads for years. That shot is referred to as 'plumbago', presumably meaning 'butterflied' or unevenly flattened. Works great for close in shots from heavily choked bbl.'s.

I put in my SSA application. Didn't know my divorce date but it was the same day or close enough to when I started using Quicken. Also didn't know the ex's SSN. I'm sure I could find it if I had to though emailing her to ask would easier.

Verified we are on for shooting indoors at the club. Planning some offhand practice with PCP rifle and pistol. Set up coffee maker for tomorrow with 4 scoops decaf, 2 scoops caffeinated.

Selected a big enough frozen pork loin for tomorrow to cut a hunk off for Sundays omelet filling. Put Maggi Jugo on the pieces I bought today and saran wrapped them for freezing.

I'm not a big fan of later winchester shotguns, but those are an exception. I shot skeet with an acquaitance this fall who has one (for skeet) and I was impressed with the workmanship and its function and (his) ability to break birds.

Hiya Stan:
It's going great. Just returned from a two mile walk. Girth reduction in progress.

Got an email from Ruger. The GP100 they received Monday is rebarreled and waiting for return shipping.

Dear Valued Ruger Customer,

We have completed work on your Ruger firearm, and are now preparing it for shipment.
We will send you the tracking number when your firearm is being shipped.

An all day 20* today with high wind , and occasional snow blowing through. The next week is forecast to be about the same as Sails.
Ruger has some of the best customer service in the industry, possibly only surpassed by Henry Arms.

TGIF Y'all!
Hi Robert. Y'all huh ? Where yat ?

Went to a "gender reveal" party yesterday. I immediately figured out I had completely misunderstood the whole thing when I was the only one there not wearing any clothes.

I was in your neck of the woods wandering around. Thought about visiting the Hacienda, then recalled the Ma Deuce you have behind the parapet wall on your roof.
I knew you'd recognize my truck, but wasn't sure about TSMIMITW. Lacking any ballistic armor on my F150 I decided to just explore on my own.
Still kicking myself for not visiting Tombstone.

The visit is geauxing great, here, in DFW.
Just came back from a long walk with my sister.

Visited a LGS and arranged for them to receive a transfer for my BIL. A firearm I picked up for him at Shot Show.

Not sure how long I'll be visiting here. Don't want to wear out any welcomes.

The ice, here, is melting. Good thing too, cause these people have no idea how to drive on the stuff.

The zipper on my sleeping bag broke. This is the same intermediate cold weather bag I slept in for a year about thirty years ago. I can't bring myself to get rid of it, but I have replaced it with a bag from Academy Sports.
They want $10/box of #8 12ga Estate. Insane.

Tomorrow I'll attend a great nephew's basketball game. That should be interesting.

Shocking stats discussed on Gutfeld last night.... or was it night before? Doesn't matter... but the numbers discussed had me do some googling.

According to the stats, the average waist size of 'murican women is 38 inches. Once again, I am below average as, according to the stats, I have the waist of a 15 year old (I can't believe that's right) while standing an inch taller than the average adult woman.

TMIMITW also finds himself below average as the stats say the average waist size of 'murican men is nearly 41 inches. According to the stats he has the waist of a 17 year old but weighs in twenty pounds above what the charts show as "ideal weight." Top heavy.

Easy test for those with views not interrupted by crumb catchers... can you see your belt buckle without the use of a mirror?

It's raining...

I’m set up with the new primary care doctor now. Got my first Shingrix shot and a Pneumovax vaccine. Neither hurt at the time, but now it’s a little tender around the Shingrix shot. Sabrina said her arm started hurting more the next day. I told her it’s not near as bad as shingles. I had the shot in my left arm since I’m right handed. I forgot that it’s the left shoulder that Spencer prefers to knead. 🙆‍♂️

I told the lady at the checkout station there at the doctors office on Wednesday that “Y’all (ladies) are high maintenance”! I laughed then and still laugh when thinking about the look on her face. She came back at me and I told her that I can dish it out and take it as well. She remembered me today. I think we will get along fine. She scheduled me right before Sabrina on our March 7th doctors appointments so we could come together.

I need to get on the ball at getting a chainsaw. I keep looking at my target stand when coming and going and those few trees behind it. Once those are out of the way I will have a nice shooting lane.

Baked fish and rice for supper when Sabrina finishes work. No lunch so my stomach is ready!

I just bought the first Christmas present for 2023. Starting early this year. Confirmed that air guns at the club is on for tomorrow.

I received an email so convincing that I forwarded it to my web hosting provider that confirmed it was a phish and that they were under attack with it.

I'm gaining a glimpse of mine as my slow but steady diet proceeds. Standard buckle, not a cowboy buckle. ;)

I cheat I have a buckle the size of a dinner plate.
No fair, Szumi!

Easiest for me when wearing rodeo style buckles... won for bull shooting and bench racing.

I can see my belt buckle just fine thanks to the grocery cost diet, thank you! I did consume eighteen eggs this week though.
Temperature will be between 2-8° when we start shooting Clays tomorrow morning. At least the sun will be shining and wind settled I’m hoping. The 600grit insulation in the Danner Fort Lewis genuine Air Force boots didn’t cut it last Saturday. Could have been the composite toes but may just dig out the forty plus year old Lacrosse Ice Man pacs for the morning or the white bunny boots.

Basically I went down I-19 then back up 82 to 90 to Benson. Taking great care not to stray South of the boarder.

There's an area of National Forest between Whetstone and Benson I was exploring for boondocking purposes.

On this trip my belt has stretched several inches. I have to move a bit out of the way to see my buckle, but not nearly as much as I did a month ago.

Filled all the bird feeders. Going into single digits tonight so the birds will need to refuel early in the morning. Staying home tonight, too cold to go out and I’m still full from the company all day BS feel good meeting luncheon and snacks.
