WELCOME TO THE WATERING HOLE

A stress-free place to gather and share whatever is on your mind! A fun place of mutual respect where you can hang your hat, vent, relax and shoot the bull for a while!

Happy Easter to all who celebrate that faith.

To all others, Happy Spring!

Easter symbolizes a new beginning, so it is fitting that TWH has a new beginning as well!
Along with RFC, TWH has been remodeled!

Actually, it can be anything you imagine it to be!

I am happy to announce that due to the increased bandwidth of the new RFC, there is no longer a need for the weekly closing and re-opening of TWH!!! After 10+ years of weekly "flipping" we now get to keep the doors open continuously! My sincere thanks to our moderators, especially Sophia, for making this possible!

I would also like to thank all the members who have kept this boat afloat for so long! We have become like family here, and now have a permanent residence! (y) While we have many long-time members who have been enjoying the company found in this amazing virtual bar, we also welcome all new folks. Jump right in! The first drink is always on the house and Veterans always have an open bar!
Al The Infidel (Tubby Slayer extraordinaire) is the bar manager.

So, let's get this re-opening celebration going! Set 'em up, Al! Drinks all around!!!

Temps at sparrow-fart here on the sunny RI coastline were mid-20's (25.7, to be exact) and the WW tell us they will fall all day to a low of -1F before tomorrow morning. Wind is good, also set to rise. Windchills will be in the -20's at that point. Nothing compared to Maine's forecast -50-something windchills, but very rare here.

Stay warm, y'all.

Good morning everyone.
The truck picture is kind of a joke, it has dinnman ground hawg II tires on it. If you know what you are looking at you can tell by the unique tread pattern.
You had me looking for a squished GH on it. :p

You are lucky all the overnight fedex stuff is backed up in dalas and Memphis.
Been working out (what used to be called just working) shoveling cyclone blown snow from Lake Ontario and Oh Canada in the -16º WC (not bad at all as long as you keep moving :D ). Tonight is the real test of how well my pipes are insulated. At least I'm not in the Adirondacks where the weasels are squeaking about -50 chilliness.
Crab and lobster stuffed ravioli with Utica's own vodka sauce and a fine Chianti for lunch. Ha!, no chianti, just some off the wall cheap and drinkable red. Have a good week-end!
And as SD says, stoopid weather with the 40s predicted here for Sunday too.

From last night:

Eddie Cochran should have done a 'Wintertime Blues'.

It's a wonder how youse guys make it thru the long cold up that way. Can understand how spending a day worrying a small hole in the ice, in a shack or tent might beat unsolitary confinement in a larger space.

We just go to our corners for a while and move past it, since there is never enough ice here to consider doing otherwise. And anyway, wimmin will remain the world's greatest enigma for me, who remains for the most part clueless to their... dare I say, nature? Still, I'm attracted to one, in particular. Funny how that werks, but it does and tho rest stops are few and far between these days, still traveling down the same road.

This morning found it 29° w/RH 100% and crusty when I awoke a bit after 5A. Got Jack his breakfast, I ate a portion of the remaining jambalaya for my breakfast starter and went back to bed. Awoke the 2nd time to SUNSHINE(!) @ 9:30. Presently, its 33°, RH down to 89%, wind N 8 under fair skies and the melt has started, even tho it feels 16. Coffee is really good this morning too. Almost as good as seeing the sunshine for the first time in a week. It's very sparkly outside w/prismatic activities, everywhere!

I’ve been moving the 1” hunks of Lucite around since 1990. Scraps of stair spindles that come in four foot lengths, I saved the cutoffs for future projects. Cool stairway and balcony when finished with clear maple woodwork and Lucite spindles with lighting coming up through from the bottom. A real pain to work with as it likes to explode when cutting.

Got an email from Ruger. The GP100 they received Monday is rebarreled and waiting for return shipping.

Dear Valued Ruger Customer,

We have completed work on your Ruger firearm, and are now preparing it for shipment.
We will send you the tracking number when your firearm is being shipped.

An all day 20* today with high wind , and occasional snow blowing through. The next week is forecast to be about the same as Sails.

Predictably, this morning has proven to be the worst for accidents for the entire ice storm's duration; those who were out of the gate too soon or threw caution to the wind:

160 crashes in 8 hours: Drivers hit Dallas roads after black ice re-freeze (msn.com)

When will they never learn? It'll be a long time coming.

Gosh, it's pretty out this morning! Lots of birds in the back, feeding their feathered hearts out as they flit about in the morning's warming rays. It's still winter, yano. And then there were multiple varmints forecasting yesterday that six more weeks will have to be endured. It happens, but Sunday is going to be glorious w/warm air [mid 60's] and sunshine. Temp is quickly moving toward the day's high of 45 that looks like it's 60 already out there but isn't. There will continue to be some refreezing taking place during the nights. That's hard for some folks to grasp.

Went to a "gender reveal" party yesterday. I immediately figured out I had completely misunderstood the whole thing when I was the only one there not wearing any clothes.

Just got back in time for Friday’s donut picture. Thanks Al.

Made my own omelet this morning. I'm getting pretty good at making something I like. In addition, my bacon was carbonized to my satisfaction. Speaking of food, I played with the Mayor Frank Trophy Hot Dog cooker that Splat sent me. I'm getting it dialed in. More testing tomorrow when I get back from the club.

Sisters tire only lost 3 psi over night. I think I've figured this out. She had a slow leak, was using a foot pump to inflate tire to looks good enough. Tire shop says it is ruined, she doesn't want to buy a new tire and is going to have her all seasons put on as she is trying to buy a used truck in the near term and is hoarding her funds.

Went shopping on single digit roads. Traction control light came on a lot. I drove slow, moved over to let a couple cars pass. I have supplies.

100th ARRL Handbook showed up at the post office. I went whole hog and got it hard bound.

Called the pension administrator, my paper work is good but I missed the gate to get paid this month. I'll get a czech in March with retroactive payments.
