I have successfully made it to DFW area.
It was a long treacherous drive today.
Quartzite? as in Arizona?
Yes. Loved it there. In the desert you can remember your name cause there ain't no one to give you no pain.

What no pictures in the Walmart parking lot?
Always someone walking in with spandex stretched to maximum capacity and purple hair people😎
All the way up to 9° as the heat of day sets in. First day of sunshine since November first here and coldest day of the new year thus far.
I'm sorry Lon. I didn't want to waste any digital film.

I'm showered. Clean. Shaved, and in a real bed.

G'nite till morning

Getting a bit windy and chilly. 26°A, feels like 14. N winds @ 14mph, gust to 21. Will get down to well below 20° tonight with feel like temps to zero or below. Some snot likely. Brrrrrrr! But not as cold as some places.

Watched the first half of Fury again and decided to get my fave frozen veggies plus a couple things in 2º blowing snow. Bundled up in the fox hat and took care of that. The Finn always says why now on the evening runs twitch I always reply; its the best time to get a cart with a full charge. Big store had 10 or less customers. (y)

Finished rehabbing close to two hundred pieces of specific rifle brass via the new and improved more concise way of doing just that, and it involved annealing as these are my PRS related casings. Gonna revise the powder charge for the .223 Wylde having checked out a couple of related youtube videos both of which made some valid point with real world testing, and I’ll confirm those results to see if this is what I wanna do. Going to pass on an out of town pistol match on Sunday seeing the WW’s are saying rain on Saturday night and Sunday morning/evening. Looks like more of the same next Sunday too, so passing on a local match that day too. No local PRS events this month so have time to verify new and current loads, and practice on building my positions before making a bang sound to send them pointy things down range.

Bride fixed Creole Jambalaya w/a packet of mix from Oak Grove Smokehouse in Prairieville, LA that Don turned us onto several years back. I turned around and ordered a case ofvit, after we'd consumed what he'd gifted us! We've shared some, ate some and ordered more. Shipping exceeded the cost of the product, last coupla times but it's great stuff. They tol' me it was handled by Walmarts in many places. Here isn't one of them. We use Cajun andouille that can be bought locally and throw some shrimp at it on occasion. Tonight, she didn't. We have some; frozen, of course.

And that brings to mind that buying frozen shrimp is the best way, since they all get flash frozen anyway to get to the market here or to the docks where they are harvested w/o spoilage and that is inclusive of all we see in the markets here in attractive displays. One has no means of determining how many times those shrimps have been refrozen or how long since they were thawed the last time, for display. Frozen shrimp have been handled way less and are generally less expensive by the
pound. Just saying, 'cause it's worth doing so.

Prices on King and snow crab legs will near make ya faint at the moment w/seasons being closed &c. Yikes! Best seafood gumbo always had grouper in it, when it was readily commercially available. It isn't, anymore.

Someone told me that groundhogs are good to eat. I don't know but suspect a lot would depend on what they'd been eating and how quickly they were field dressed and cooled. Can't say that I ever developed much of a hurry to find out but can appreciate that they were one of the primary drivers for the development of varmint cartridges, back in the day. 220 Swifts and 22-250's rock, around my clock! Just P-dogs & pot-guts mostly; sometimes an unlucky rock chuck being welcomed to the Red Mist Society. Have never encountered a
groundhog.

It's dark and dangerous out... whot w/glare & black ice about. And I'm thinking of Rudyard Kipling and his 'just so' stories that too many of today's youngsters are being deprived of. That's a shame but the odors wafting from the kitchen distracted me earlier, from that line of thot. Dinner ate good and so is the bourbon tonight. Willet

get warmer soon? Yes, and I'm much lookin' forward tuit! I can tell ya that.

Groundhogs are the largest members of the squirrel family, big fat terrestrial instead of arboreal rodents. I've been too squeamish tp bust one and cook it. They should be about like most any other squirrel or marmot critter for taste.

Nasty cold wet day, 30 tonight, 44 for the high coming up midday and 25 whence the darkness returneth once more. I usually go shopping on the 3rd but I will probably wait until Monday, weatherguessers are saying mid 60's by then, much nicer day than too mar row. We're not out of kitty food, litter or pop tarts yet.......

Good Morning RFC'rs, et al:

I haven't a clue what's been going on in your lives for the last month.

I've spent much time in the desert. Four different BLM camping spots.

Shot Show was great, and I'll have a swag give a way with Whatever is left over.

Going to do some running around today after things thaw a bit.

Sure is nice to be back.

What did I miss ?

If you order it online from Walmart you won't pay any shipping.

When I get fresh shrimp, they're really fresh. As in, just off the boat. Life in NOLA.

Have you ever wondered what happens to Phil the groundhog after the big day ?

Price of a jumbo stone crab claw in my son’s restaurant is $80. People in Florida go ape **** for the things. Stone crabs actually regrow their claws after being harvested.
I’ve had them before and don’t quite get what all the hype is about. They’re good, but not worth the price.
Had Langostinos in the Iron Bound section of Newark yesterday for lunch. Three big ones in garlic sauce for a lunch special. $22. They were outstanding. Price was good considering I paid $60 for 4 of them last weekend.
