WELCOME TO THE WATERING HOLE

A stress-free place to gather and share whatever is on your mind! A fun place of mutual respect where you can hang your hat, vent, relax and shoot the bull for a while!

Happy Easter to all who celebrate that faith.

To all others, Happy Spring!

Easter symbolizes a new beginning, so it is fitting that TWH has a new beginning as well!
Along with RFC, TWH has been remodeled!

Actually, it can be anything you imagine it to be!

I am happy to announce that due to the increased bandwidth of the new RFC, there is no longer a need for the weekly closing and re-opening of TWH!!! After 10+ years of weekly "flipping" we now get to keep the doors open continuously! My sincere thanks to our moderators, especially Sophia, for making this possible!

I would also like to thank all the members who have kept this boat afloat for so long! We have become like family here, and now have a permanent residence! (y) While we have many long-time members who have been enjoying the company found in this amazing virtual bar, we also welcome all new folks. Jump right in! The first drink is always on the house and Veterans always have an open bar!
Al The Infidel (Tubby Slayer extraordinaire) is the bar manager.

So, let's get this re-opening celebration going! Set 'em up, Al! Drinks all around!!!

😇😄
Whistling bottle rockets are verboten but two 2x4s smacked together with vigor are loud enough to hurt my ears and silence the raucous horde of starlings and blackbirds building nests in the surrounding pines, albeit temporarily the filthy animals.
Here you go Al. Wack your two sticks together like this and you can dance to it too. 😀
Not much happening here and nothing new and exciting to report.

More snot fell today and upon melting resulted in standing water again in the super saturated back yard. Need winter weather to give up it's grasp.
First off, Happy Anniversary, Mr and Mrs Wayne! Many congrats!

Secondly, my range day today didn't involve either of the remote paper-punches I was planning on yesterday, but turned into a Sig day. With 3 different ammos to play with.

The Browning "Range and Practice" was acceptable - no flyers, reasonable little-ish group. The Freedom Munitions ammo that I was expecting to be the worst (coz it was the cheapest) was actually very good, or I had hit my stride perfectly when I got to it. And the Sig "Elite Performance" was terrible - or I was just tired by then. :) But a further 5 shot group with the others kinda proved it wasn't me....

Good morning, though - greatly enjoyed, and a clear road through the twisties on the way home so I got to play there as well. :D

Got a couple of chores done at my dad's house today, luckily he's my boss so I get paid pretty good to do them...
First was fix his Gadsden flag, it was hanging crooked. Next was re-hang the front screen door, the wood is rotted that it is screwed in to so I filled the hole in with epoxy used to hold concrete anchors.
Next was prime up his misting system and clean up the water cooler for the garage, should have been done before Easter...
Lastly I made a overly complicated, overly built ramp to support and line the gate up with its latch upon closing...
Automotive tire Wood Bumper Road surface Vehicle door
Automotive tire Wood Grass Bumper Road surface
Wood Road surface Asphalt Rectangle Flooring

I'm going to build a flag "pole" like my dad's to mount on my house, I'm thinking here...

Why didn't you just line it up and re-enforce the pole holding the gate and hinges???

This was quicker :). Both posts are green board 4x6s, 30 y.o., and in a difficult spot. I did repack, shim and adjust the hinges the best that I could. At least I'll be able to reinstall these parts when I eventually have to replace the posts. It's a heavy gate, so support on both sides even with new posts won't hurt anything, well maybe a bare foot.😬

It's raining now (since 10:00AM) didn't get much done outside.
We made do with just a little shopping.

I got word that newest camera has shipped. Expect that in a week...
It's always fun to get new stuff. :)

Tomorrow is lookin' pretty nasty too. If the weather is against us, I'll shoot (photos or pellets) in the man-cave.

Life in the great PNW...

Gotcha!

I have been building fences since I was 14 years old (50 years ago!!!) Started with helping my uncle at his fence company. Mostly chain link and picket fences. Since then I have only put up a couple of vinyl fences by myself. The gates and hinges are the most troublesome and the first to get out of whack! Great "Improvise, Adapt, and Overcome" strategy!(y)

Thanks for all the well wishes for our anniversary. It rained /snowed all day, here, temps were above freezing so nothing stayed around. 70 points of rain so far.
Saturday night while we were eating dinner,I mentioned to the wife that all the yard work, mowing ect was scratching up my arms.Every little thing would break the skin and I,d bleed.Told her I remembered as a kid that we had BFI powder in the medicine cabinet, and this powder would be put on cuts & scratches(think bicycle road rash) to stop the bleeding. A google search found that BFI powder was no longer available. However she found this product called "WoundSeal" that is a powder that "stops bleeding Instantly".A package in todays mail contained 4x4 packs of the stuff.
Thought this may be of help to you old geezers that have thin skin and are on blood thinners or daily aspirin. I havent tried it out ,yet.
Nothing exciting to report. Good night all.

Thanks for the reminder as my QuikClot has expired and walleye season armed with blood thinners & fillet knives approachethe.

Blue text is fine with me Wook. I never realized either how many folks went to the dark side. I tried it but.....

Nuther grub run in the am with the empty jinxed blue buggy's last run before the $$ swap.

Debating where to put the stickers this time per not sticking to the ceramic coating well which means careful thought and placement for getting locked in by the coating or.... just use the back window which would solve it all. Gots to play with it in 1st person eh, and see what moves my creativity. Its forever.

Snowing again of course, and the ground is white again @ 31ºF.

Al why don't you have the stickers turned into magnets so you can move them around.

Mornin',

1.10 inches of rain and a lot of wind yesterday evening/last night. Still windy, going to remain windy, start with some sun and then clouds move in with a high of 53, 13 degrees below normal.

Easter dinner leftovers were good last night. The usual Taco Tuesday fare tonight before we return to leftovers again tomorrow night. That should do in all but some ham. Hopefully, it will end with some fried ham and eggs for dinner one night.

My wife is not big on leftovers. I told her she must not have been poor when she was young. We would eat the same thing every night for a week if there was that much leftover and you didn't complain. Better than going hungry. I remind her that leftovers keeps her from having to decide what to fix every night, as she runs out of ideas.

Meetings today starting at 0730 hours.

Have a great day.
Good morning all!

Toil, toil, toil!!

Hope y'all have a great day!

Amen! Been putzing with my 99yds of 6'H, 8' posts and 3 gates since it was installed. I still have some well seasoned boards from the olde one. Got the new privacy fence when I grew weary of looking at the neighbor's crap and skunks tearing up the lawn @ nite. Now the newer fence is leaning in several spots. I-yaaah!

Al why don't you have the stickers turned into magnets so you can move them around.
Car wash & thieves? I dunno.

Got a bit more shnow during the night and it is all white except the walks and street @ 29˚.
Good looking pups, Lon!

56° again this morning under partly cloudy skies but the NE winds we had blowing at 15 w/G 25 have switched to E 5 and will gradually turn to S something as the day progresses. It topped out at 72 yesterday but it was short lived and had a bit of 'almost cool' tuit. We'll see the winds turn S and set off some showers tonight that will prolly last into Wed. morning and then things will warm quickly w/high in the mid to upper 80's. And winds S 15~20 G to 35 that should make the sporty clays league targets plenty sporty.

Good shooting report, Sails. Interesting, your findings. FWIW, I've had better luck/accuracy w/some hard cast bullets than jacketed in some pistols. Wanna do some serious playing w/pistols testing this summer in that regard in a new direction. Mostly w/the .32 acp's. If the available ammo [it mostly isn't] & small pistol primers were not so hard to come by, I'd be bent to doing a lot of it. As it is, I'm proud to have whot I have and am sorta holding them close. I've found those small guns can spit their spent cases where ya can't easily recover them with alarming alacrity.

Seems that nothing is inexpensive to shoot these days, not even .22's! Just scored some more shotshell components, so back up to adequate on that count. I have a lot of concern, personally, for the future of shooting sports and recreation. Hope that it is misplaced, but with things as they are who knows?

We've some young shooters doing a fine job of representing us in the Olympic World Cup matches. Two from here are competing again in another round of World Cup matches in Lonato, Italy starting next Tuesday, Austen Smith & Vincent Hancock. Both extremely nice young persons and incredibly talented. They are leaving this week. Familiarity & practice there is next Monday. The last match was in Peru where they both won medals.

I'll be pulling weeds today.
