WELCOME TO THE WATERING HOLE

A stress-free place to gather and share whatever is on your mind! A fun place of mutual respect where you can hang your hat, vent, relax and shoot the bull for a while!

Happy Easter to all who celebrate that faith.

To all others, Happy Spring!

Easter symbolizes a new beginning, so it is fitting that TWH has a new beginning as well!
Along with RFC, TWH has been remodeled!

Actually, it can be anything you imagine it to be!

I am happy to announce that due to the increased bandwidth of the new RFC, there is no longer a need for the weekly closing and re-opening of TWH!!! After 10+ years of weekly "flipping" we now get to keep the doors open continuously! My sincere thanks to our moderators, especially Sophia, for making this possible!

I would also like to thank all the members who have kept this boat afloat for so long! We have become like family here, and now have a permanent residence! (y) While we have many long-time members who have been enjoying the company found in this amazing virtual bar, we also welcome all new folks. Jump right in! The first drink is always on the house and Veterans always have an open bar!
Al The Infidel (Tubby Slayer extraordinaire) is the bar manager.

So, let's get this re-opening celebration going! Set 'em up, Al! Drinks all around!!!

I've noticed several Kia Stingers around my county lately, they are quite attractive vehicles. I didn't pay much attention to how many Hyundais were around until I got one, now I'm noticing that there are many of them. I've not came across another Elantra Coupe yet and may not as they were only built for two years. Little coopy is as fast as the 99 Mustang V6 that we had from 2000-2009 and has a lot more grip. If I had a car with real big power it would probably get me killed. 😋

Mornin',

Another day of misty rain, wind, clouds and cool temps. Currently 44, may make it to 53.

Ditches working as expected. Everything else is wet, so short day at the farm.

Long time farmer friend has a daughter in law that grows flowers in a greenhouse, just a mile from the farm. Stopped and picked up a hanging basket and large potted flower mix for the front of the house, made the wife happy.

Watched the Kentucky Derby, quite a spoiler the winner was. Some people may have raised their tax bracket if they bet correctly.

Looks like we are headed to the beach for the car show. Wife showed no interest until she saw our usual place was available. Okay by me, I do miss not having a car to cruise in and put in the Mustang show, but that will come with time as full retirement picture becomes clearer.

Today will be inside stuff and little of that if I have my way.

Have a great day.

Anyone else here have to pay for "emissions testing" every year before you can renew your tags?

Between myself, my daughter, and my ex, we have 11 vehicles - although I think the older "classics" are excluded. At least I have a place nearby that charges $15, vs. the standard $25.
Yep Andy, $25 every 2 years on gas and $70 every year on diesel for dyno/OBD testing. New cars are exempt for the first 7 years as are1982 and older models.

I understand the need, Denver has always had an air quality problem nestled in a bowl up against the foothills. They could have the same results catching smokers by running sniffer vans around the metro area at %10 of the price of lining us all up like cattle every 2 years. No changing it now.

We also traded our vehicle inspection program for this emissions deal. Pre-1995 once a year all vehicles would get at least a cursory check by a certified mechanic on basic safety features. No longer...busted windshield, bad brakes, broken lights, no problem as long as the tailpipe is clean

Good range report Szumi. How do you like the Colt/Umarex 1911-22? Maybe a different recoil spring for shooting SV when surpressed? Have thought of getting one of those. I should be downsizing though.
I have two different recoil springs, neither one made it more reliable.

I like that it looks like a 1911 and has a fair amount of heft due to the zamac construction. Important areas have steel reinforcements in it so they built it with durability in mind. I can't find a replacement rear sight that fits it as I have to run the elevation all the way down. The rear sight groove isn't to my liking either.

It is a bit harder to clean now as I have a suppressor adapter on it that has to be removed to get the slide off. When I do that the sleeve around the barrel is free and the barrel will fall out.

It works best with HV ammo, for some reason loves a bucket of golden bullets. Talk about fun, a bay full of steel and a full bucket of bullets. :)

Since it is my only pistol that can accept my suppressor, it is going to get a lot more use and attention.

This is a gun you have to clean every time you take it out and sometimes while out.
Tomorrow is Mothers Day. Make sure to remind your wives and girlfriends to have the chores, laundry, and errands done tonight so they can take Sunday off and enjoy their day.
Epic multi-quote/post Brian! JimWY would be proud of you . . . . . . . . or jealous.

As for the above, you forgot to add, "Make sure your will is up to date and affairs are in order"

Happy Sunday/ Child-bearing persons Day.
Wifey is on the hunt for a new vehicle and threw her hat into the ring for a bougie Lexus RX-450h AWD. It’s “in transit “ so might be in town sometime this June-July. 🤔

Had prime rib as the main dish for dinner tonight being an early Mother’s Day celebration. 👍
Nice rocket enroute TD. (y)

In...

42 degrees and it should be a fair day :)

We're headed for the marina and later to the beach (both just one town north of us).
Testing the new lens and camera combo. I expect (24-85mm) lens will do well for landscapes, or anything.
I've shot come beautys in the past with a 10-20mm on another camera...

Happy Mother's Day :)

That post was epic, on a 'gym' from WY scale, BW but contains some good wisdom that reminds me of Uncle Ron whose last name happened to be Wisdom. I'm remiss in not saying how much I enjoyed seeing your pic w/the grand's the other day. It's a good un, & I did enjoy it. I passed on yer suggestion to tell the bride to have that myriad of things done yesterday, so she could take today off but it was cause for a grin, so thanks for that too. :)
Thanks wook. Have a great day at the club.

Thanks folks. Did think of JimWy while composing. I quite enjoyed his masterful collected multi quotes. Wonder what became of JimWy. Hope he is doing well.

Thanks for the Walther Colt 1911-22 report Wes.

At one time I had a Chiappa 1911-22, bought on impulse while being strongly encouraged and enabled by the lady friend that was with me at the time. One of the few firearms that I have sent down the road. Almost thought I was going to have to pay someone to take it. Now that I think about it, it may have been replaced by a Sig branded GSG made 1911-22 or two, maybe three. I should go to the vault at the warehouse and czech. I really should downsize.

Curious thing about the Golden Bullets. A friend's son has a built tricked out Ruger 10-22 with the heavy barrel and all the werks. Dang thing absolutely loves the GB.

Happy Mothers Day to all the Mothers, members Mothers, and members wives here. Moms are to be celebrated for the greatness they are. For many Moms, it is the hardest job there is. I know my Mom werked hard in her Mothers position. Always a capital M for Mom. I'm sure I didn't make that job any easier for her at times. I'll visit her and my wife later today.

A very good friend's son graduates college today. After 4 years at a private school he has elected to hotdog it for a year.

A dry beautiful sunny 62°A morning. Woo Hoo.

Have a great day my friends.

At least he let you know he wouldn't be coming back. I constantly here from some business people here about werkers that just no longer show up and they never hear from them again. Won't return phone calls to czech on their well being, or even claim moneys owed them.
Agreed, and we had back up in place. Atleast he didn't leave me hanging on this next job.
I've noticed several Kia Stingers around my county lately, they are quite attractive vehicles.
If you make it to Atlanta, look me up. I'll take you for a spin.

It's not stock. Close to 100hp over how it came. 60 in under 4s and probably good for 190, but I've only had it to 176. In Mexico, of course.
Took the truck ('03 F150) for emissions when they opened at 10am. A couple in front of me, told me it would be about 20minutes. An hour later said the machine wouldn't boot up. So over an hour wasted and a gallon of gas to accomplish nothing. Guy who runs the place said he'd give me $5 off when I came back. Won't be today.
Took my modified 10/22 out this morning.
Testing all the changes I have done.
Houge over molded stock, UTG 3-9X32 AO Mil Dot scope, cheap bipod, E.R. Shaw heavy barrel and in the last 2 days a BX trigger group and JWH bolt (Competitor style).
Shot 200 rounds of Fed auto match. It is quite a bit more accurate now than when stock and it was pretty accurate then.
Getting 1/2" groups of 10 rounds at 65 yards.
This thing is a money hole. May get an aftermarket receiver later since that is all that is left of the original rifle.
I went grocery shopping, hoping for a deal on something, I didn't score. I looked at some bovine goodness but didn't see anything that filled all the boxes. Cheap, thick, likely to grill good. I have a pre-avian flu chicken frontal unit defrosting. I think I need to grill.

I did return some bottle and cans. Twenty-four 2 litre Diet 7up bottles will fill a large trash bag.

Rummaged around the garage and found the box that my air conditioner was packed in. I saved it for target backers. Sliced out a side, poked it and attached some 12 gauge solid wire and pinned an I.B.S. 100y Hunter target on it. Loaded up my cz457 and suppressor and headed to the range. Sure was windy, I was alone on a Sunday morning. Not normal. Cardboard fit the rabbit wire strung at 100 just fine. No hangovers.

I shot a bit, an older gent showed up and did a function test, didn't even want to see his targets. He asked if I was shooting a pellet gun, said no, can, played show and tell.

Rifle has a significant POA shift. It shoots 3.8 MOA high with the suppressor on. Thankfully windage change is in the noise. I'm going to have to czech this with some Eley Club and SK Standard+ to see if it is consistent.

It has a distinctive sound to it, I think it is the plastic fantastic stock reverberating. I may be buying a stock for it soon. I already have the bottom metal to do this.
I bought the rifle shortly after buying the suppressor that had a 11 month jail sentence and with covid and stuff I've only shot it once before and that was indoors at 50 feet. With CCI SV it isn't impressive. I hope it shoots way better with some better ammo. I'll pick a calm day to do it.

There was trash all over, the one trash barrel was overflowing, the place was a mess. After I finished shooting I used the trash bag I used to bring the 7up bottles to reverse vending to police the area. It looks much so better now. I did get a reward out of this, I spied some cardboard wedged under the trash barrel and put it in my bag. Under the cardboard was most of a pack of A-14 small bore targets that I will put to use with my CM-2 one of these days.

I hope every one is having a great day and those with moms still with us are spending the day with her.

The range went well. The two new magazines, combined with the new main spring have solved 100% of the feed issues on the TPT-92 . (Trailer Park Trash)

Unfortunately, the new mag spring did not correct the OEM mag issues. Likely the follower as Kevin has advised.

I was still having struggles on the plates with it, so I broke down and put it on paper.

I'm in the market for a new 9mm. Some things I can't fix. I'll have a good look at the sights, but I don't think this pistol is going to make the cut.

The Iver Johnson 1911 that I'm tinkering with shot great. Grouped great. So it's not me.

Shotgunning was fun, but I missed most every target going away. Frustrated I was.

I was shooting the A-5 16ga with the Cutts and a Spreader Choke.

The water is geauxing way down, and the mosquitoes were not quite as annoying as on Friday.

What are you looking for?

I'm not selling but between my daughter and I we have quite a variety of 9mm pistols, for competition (USPSA), carry, and home deference. I am no expert but I can offer our experience. We regularly practice drills with all of them laid out on the bench.

I consolidated down from other calibers many years back, the only exception is a 1911.

Basically I'm looking at one of four:

CZ 75 Tactical Sport Orange. Available from my distributor.
Air gun Trigger Gun barrel Gun accessory Airsoft gun

Sig P210 Target. None in stock. I'd have to pay retail, which I hate to do.

Air gun Trigger Gun barrel Gun accessory Revolver

A RIA, or similar, 2011 would be my first choice, were they not made of Unobtainium.
I'll NEVER fork over the cash for an STI, or a Wilson

Air gun Trigger Gun barrel Gun accessory Metal

Lastly, and perhaps most budget friendly
The Girsan copy of the High Power. I can make 'those offensive parts' fall out.
They aren't in stock right now, so I'd have to look for one in the retail world.

Trigger Air gun Gun barrel Gun accessory Metal

Those are my thoughts.

OK, all appear to be very "19911-like" and I can't help much there. They are all nice enough, nothing wrong with that.

As stated, I have a 1911, but the only "full-size" 9mm's we have are dedicated for USPSA - a G17 and an XD. Neither are pretty like my SR1911, just functional. Other than cost of ammunition and reduced round count, they shoot the same. We carry much smaller pistols.
