WELCOME TO THE WATERING HOLE

A stress-free place to gather and share whatever is on your mind! A fun place of mutual respect where you can hang your hat, vent, relax and shoot the bull for a while!

Happy Easter to all who celebrate that faith.

To all others, Happy Spring!

Easter symbolizes a new beginning, so it is fitting that TWH has a new beginning as well!
Along with RFC, TWH has been remodeled!

Actually, it can be anything you imagine it to be!

I am happy to announce that due to the increased bandwidth of the new RFC, there is no longer a need for the weekly closing and re-opening of TWH!!! After 10+ years of weekly "flipping" we now get to keep the doors open continuously! My sincere thanks to our moderators, especially Sophia, for making this possible!

I would also like to thank all the members who have kept this boat afloat for so long! We have become like family here, and now have a permanent residence! (y) While we have many long-time members who have been enjoying the company found in this amazing virtual bar, we also welcome all new folks. Jump right in! The first drink is always on the house and Veterans always have an open bar!
Al The Infidel (Tubby Slayer extraordinaire) is the bar manager.

So, let's get this re-opening celebration going! Set 'em up, Al! Drinks all around!!!

Raining again @ 54°A. And will be for awhile. About 150 points so far since the precipitation started this morning. Going by my old school glass cylinder rain gauge we've received about 150 points so far today. That totals over 3 inches in the last 4 days, 3 of which it has rained. Weasels say dry tomorrow with temps in the 40's. Rain returns Thursday and Friday. With the frequent rain we've been getting, you would think this was the PNW, NOLA, or FLA. Since March 1, we've had only 16 days that were more sun than clouds with rain or snow about half the days. Tired of all the wet, cloudy chilly weather. Back yard is a swamp again. Rain, rain go away. Wish I could send it to places that need it. I need to talk to my farmer friend, to see if they can even get in the fields. Think I'll lynch a weather weasel or two. Won't change the weather, but it will feel good!

Ole Geezer weather rant over.

I live an exciting life.
Wish you could send some of that rain my way. We've only had a couple of light showers the last few weeks and the pollen here is pretty bad. I can hose it off the trucks, porch, etc and the next day everything is back to juice green.

Bring a bucket and come git some.:sneaky:

I thought the truckbed liner was genius. I love the finish at the range.
My son-in-law has a nice pick-up that someone sprayed with bed liner from new. Very little rust for its age, and he really doesn't care if one of my grandkids throws a ball or a frisbee at it. :)

Grandpa's tractor looked something like this:

His son, my uncles, first tractor was a '59 Deere. I think a 430.
That’s a cool old tractor, grandpa had an old tricycle wheel Deere with a two or row plow to where he had to drive one rear tire in the rough plowed ground.
Last week we picked up the wife’s new 4Runner TRD Off Road, she loves the color (Barcelona Red) and the upgraded radio, They ended up giving us $23,100 for the 2016 4Runner SR5 with 115k miles. I saw on line they have that one for sale $31,600 Considering we paid $39,000 for it new 6 years ago is insane.
Nice guns and range reports everyone, including the evil bedlinered one.

For some reason only known to Fordaholics refurbed Broncos are bringing the big bucks @ vehicle auctions.

Took the Finn for a spin around town after dinner on a sunny evening and never saw so many Tubbys galavanting on people's lawns.

We use to have rodent control bait around the pistol range but there is no one licensed to do so anymore at the range. So this season we have been undulated with them thar ground rodentia burrowing under our retaining walls and containers. Secrete memo (Order 66) from above went out yesterday and so while at the pistol range this morning it seems that a small handful of Autosmash reduced the number of these on site burrowing tubbies by eight within a fifteen minute period. Almost like a mini PRS event while on the clock. Their mortal remains were gathered and removed from where human traffic would normally be and made available to the crows that call this area of the mountain their home. Twas a truly a target rich environment this morning. One of the normal rodentia patrol persons when learning about this inquired if any were saved for him. Replied to him whether or not he want them deep fried or in a Bento Box. 😀

It's been an interesting day here; instead of it warming, it just got colder. Went from 62 early to 55 and stayed there, or a bit lower. This latest norther has been a hard pusher but it's also brought some much needed moisture, so I'll not complain. Did get t' speak w/another member here for a bit, for the very first time, and was reminded of the fine quality of folks who visit and contribute to this site. It really is amazing, when ya stop & think on it. I say that, having watched what has and does happen on some other sites where things have gone down paths better/best not taken.

Got some stuff done, reflected some, decided that it was more productive for me to continue to focus on shooting, eating well from stuff we've in the larder and moving on down the road we call life. Skip a rock when ya can; play it back and visually count the times it bounced or skittered but ya need a really fast shutter speed to accomplish the latter... and that's when ya shift to SWAG, which isn't very scientific atall but it meets some arbitrary standards well enough.

'How many bounces do ya need, Boss?'

'Dunno, Vern but that last one skittered purdy good.'

It went from 55 at dusk w/RH of 90% & wind N 10 G 25 back up to 62 now @ 9 P w/RH of 80% w/wind E 8. Chances of getting rained out are 50%+ for tomorrow afternoon's sporty clays shooting. I'll just have to take them and see whot happens. Not smart enough to run a drone umbrella if I had one and shoot too.

'Ya wanna come and tag along, Vern? I've a new and really nice large umbrella big enough to keep both of us dry, should it rain.'

Ha! One might wish. Alas, I've no Huckleberry and the way it's going it costs more to feed a gun than a horse or hire an umbrella man to stay the course... that you'd prolly have to feed as well. My thots R getting fuzzy, but it could just be the hairs on the mold that has beset them. It's algae season as well. Galea is its anagram.

Ponder that! 🙀

Today it was my lovely Browning Safari grade 222, . . .
Very nice. (y)(y)
Ran up to Walmart and the pharmacy this morning and gave them all some money. o_O Carried Mom to the doctor this afternoon to get blood drawn for the 6 month recheck on the benign monoclonal gammopathy test. Go back in a week to see the doctor for a results consult. Then over to the optometrist to pick up her new glasses. They must have gotten the prescription very close as she could read down to the 20/25 line and read up close very well. She was happy with them. At the same distance I could read down to the 20/13 line so I know my lens prescription is perfect! Got home and fired up the older lawn mower and mowed grass until it got too dark to see well enough to go any further. That older Craftsman mower has a single cylinder 20 HP Kohler engine on it and gets better fuel economy than the newer mower of mine with the B&S V twin 24 horse engine. Used up all the gas that I had on hand anyways, so I had to go to the store and spend some more money. Four bucks a gallon this year is going to eat some dollars up to keep everything mowed.

Mom had a broken ballcock on a toilet last month and didn't know about it for a while; I replaced it for her but a lot of water had already gotten gone. Got the water bill: $180.00! Our water bills are usually the minimum of $21.41. We got a letter from the water department, rates going up 11%.

Nothing exciting to report. Played Uber all day with doctor appointments. None for me. Glad I have tablet and Bluetooth speaker. Gets rather boring and one office won't let me in. One good thing I found the card reader for my desktop. Goodnight all.

Phil, If you will send the Water Dept. a note regarding your mom's condition/circumstances along w/a copy of the receipt for the causative culprit, they will likely make a substantive adjustment in her favor.

Were I younger I'd give some thought to hiring migrants to sow and harvest.:p

Going to the top;
when in VN one of the options was putting my wages "on the books", taking whatever pocket change, then collecting it all when going home while thinking positive in the meat grinder eh? If ya couldn't trust Uncle I mean who could ya trust yano? Silly boy, while still hospitalized I requested my hard earned wages that mysteriously went poof according to REMFs.:mad: It took my congressman to get but 1/2 back. I quit voting until Hollywoods Bonzo wanted/went to go to the WH. shaking head icon

Gonna be buggy again Lon.... 40º on the button
Started "farming" with a Farmall cub then graduated to a Farmall super C sixty years ago. Neither had room for a waste basket.
We had a 1920's International harvester "H", a 30's "M", a 40's "M" and not sure of the vintage of the 300. Two bottom plows, 6 foot disks, a pull behind Allis Chalmers 6 foot combine....
Since we are leasing the tilled ground this year, different equipment comes and goes on the farm. Yesterday, I had to move a Challenger (originally a Caterpillar company, now AGCO) hooked to a 40 foot vertical tillage tool. Duals front and back, air ride, shuttle shift - talk about time warp. Hopefully he learned not to park in on the grass and leave the key in it. 😲

Mornin',

55 and showers, remains humid, some sun, thunderstorms and rain this afternoon from a passing front. May reach 76 degrees.

Got the grass cut at the farm, moved some tractors around so the lease guy can get his planter without having to move anything. Boss showed up for a bit, more things to do as weather and time allows.

Tires for the car finally arrived. Take care of that after work, if weather hasn't gotten too bad by then.

Have a good day.

BIL needs a bit more shelving Szumi.

Oops, ETA- Flicker or woodpecker is really having at our living room chimney bugging the snot out of the Finn. Will the gas fireplace' sleeved insert up there look like a hammered nickel finish when mating season is over? Al wondered to himself.

Speaking of which Wook, its time for the purveyors of the big lake Yooper Stone fields once again as its a fresh crop tilled up by winter storms and ice.
