WELCOME TO THE WATERING HOLE

A stress-free place to gather and share whatever is on your mind! A fun place of mutual respect where you can hang your hat, vent, relax and shoot the bull for a while!

To all others, Happy Spring!

Easter symbolizes a new beginning, so it is fitting that TWH has a new beginning as well!
Along with RFC, TWH has been remodeled!

Actually, it can be anything you imagine it to be!

I am happy to announce that due to the increased bandwidth of the new RFC, there is no longer a need for the weekly closing and re-opening of TWH!!! After 10+ years of weekly "flipping" we now get to keep the doors open continuously! My sincere thanks to our moderators, especially Sophia, for making this possible!

I would also like to thank all the members who have kept this boat afloat for so long! We have become like family here, and now have a permanent residence!

While we have many long-time members who have been enjoying the company found in this amazing virtual bar, we also welcome all new folks. Jump right in! The first drink is always on the house and Veterans always have an open bar!
Al The Infidel (Tubby Slayer extraordinaire) is the bar manager.

So, let's get this re-opening celebration going! Set 'em up, Al! Drinks all around!!!

Back from today’s out of town six stage USPSA Level I event shooting along side with forty-one like minded folks, except one decided to DQ for the day. Shot moi TR9 PCC and finished twenty-third overall, second in both my divisional category and classification, and twelfth overall in the classifier stage. 😀 Shot a clean match with no boo-boos nor including any no shoot targets to my posted results. ☝ Car pooled-did and journey went Uber quick coming and going, consumed two corn dogs and two cans of Starbutt’s energy drinks on the way home. Had a nice impromptu conversation prior to the match beginning regarding my tuna boat with another person who used to have one of these a year older but unfortunately his got totaled.

Can’t even afford canned cat food for samich spread anymore as pet food has went up 25% in the last year.

It is crazy I use to buy fancy feast for 50 cents a can now it's almost a buck. And now the cats don't like it so got to find something else which I know is going to be more expensive.

Today I bought a 30lb bag of Hills Science Diet for our dog, $83.00 out the door. Was wondering if it would be cheaper to feed her what we are eating.

We feed the dogs Victor Hi-Pro and a fifty pound bag feeds five for a month. Started feeding it with the Spring litter of pups do to what we had been feeding was always out of stock as well as really going up in price. Victor was $54 out the door at that time and last months bag increased to $62. Still the best feed we’ve ever used and very reasonable when you start looking at the labels of other premium feed. Local feed mill carry’s it and always in stock. They carry all the big name brands but everyone has switched over to the Victor.

I believe my son is now hooked on bird hunting. Beautiful time of the year to be out walking the woods. Enough birds to keep us occupied and what there is of them present formidable targets.
The Grouse my son got was flushed initially from thirty foot up in a tree, no shot off. Watched where he lit and put the pup on him. Apparently the touch down was short before heading to another tree leaving just the touchdown site with scent. Son flushed him from another treetop and got the kill shot off.
I was able to get two shots off at Woodcock in thick bush on the first, incoming dropped pug of cover on the second. Five yard incoming corkscrew flight for the kill.
Other Grouse flew into the sun keeping in direct path into it, son got off two shots and heard two other Grouse unseen come out of that covey. They were having no part of setting for a young pup. Wily birds that have spent their lifes hunted 24/7 by Bobcat, Mink, Fisher, Foxes and Coyotes plus aerial assault by birds of prey.

It’s not an easy walk in the park hunting them but the thrill of the flush is incredible. I’ve taken a half a flexaril, my Dicloflenac and am ready to melt into the recliner after todays hunt.

I’ll certainly check out their labels, did some checking and they show availability in St. Joseph, MO. About 15 miles away. Thanks for the tip.

It was amazing how our dogs took to it and the nice thing is about 20% as much poop as the other big name feeds. They get much more out of it and they are as healthy as they’ve ever been.

20-40% would be closer to reality but such as its always been.

Lawncare's son finally came and got the apples after the Packers won in OT, and then headed for home for he and his spouse to rest before tomorrow's tending of the pineapple plantations.

And you have to keep them happy, otherwise they will murder you in your sleep.

Wind was blasting this afternoon. Everything's is so dry. No water standing anywhere, just dust and no rain forecast for the next 10 days. Saw no squirrels for all the movement in the trees from the wind, disappointing but expected. Better luck another day. Going to be hauling some big shelves in the pickup tomorrow for the inlaws so might get in a little hunting time down there.
