WELCOME TO THE WATERING HOLE

A stress-free place to gather and share whatever is on your mind! A fun place of mutual respect where you can hang your hat, vent, relax and shoot the bull for a while!

Happy Easter to all who celebrate that faith.

To all others, Happy Spring!

Easter symbolizes a new beginning, so it is fitting that TWH has a new beginning as well!
Along with RFC, TWH has been remodeled!

Actually, it can be anything you imagine it to be!

I am happy to announce that due to the increased bandwidth of the new RFC, there is no longer a need for the weekly closing and re-opening of TWH!!! After 10+ years of weekly "flipping" we now get to keep the doors open continuously! My sincere thanks to our moderators, especially Sophia, for making this possible!

I would also like to thank all the members who have kept this boat afloat for so long! We have become like family here, and now have a permanent residence! (y) While we have many long-time members who have been enjoying the company found in this amazing virtual bar, we also welcome all new folks. Jump right in! The first drink is always on the house and Veterans always have an open bar!
Al The Infidel (Tubby Slayer extraordinaire) is the bar manager.

So, let's get this re-opening celebration going! Set 'em up, Al! Drinks all around!!!

Two and a half bills traded for goods at the commissary.
...freezer is full now.

Traffic wasn't bad, either way :)
Had a good day.

AR re-assembled into a 16" carbine. I forgot the muzzle flash hider. I'll pick one up tomorrow.

I managed to launch a very energetic buffer spring during the process. That was exciting.

Tomorrow I'll be assembling two more mid-length ARs.

(y) Glad you dodged the Ian bullet Don.

Jack's platypus ducks?

42º with a high of 60 or more should make for a vunderbar day on the highway setting mousetraps and buffing on the Semper Fi this pm depending how this am flies for pre-op. In the 60s for the next 5 days should make for a great Splatz like summer.
There was some horrible storm surge associated with Ian. Don't wish that on anyone.

Don't overdue it polishing The Semper Fi.

Good turn out for this month’s retire people breakfast at Lenny’s with many of these folks I use to work with being ten to fifteen years older than me still up and around. 👍 Always a good time for conversing as to whose still healthy and otherwise, past projects whereas the spicy details were never shared in the local newspaper, the comings and goings of past and present agency employees whether or not they be civil servants, appointed, or elected, plus current state of affairs on the State, Nation, and world wide level.

Made a minor adjustment to the MDT Baker Wings on my 6.5CM PRS rifle, and installed the lazy Susan delivered today for the family room TV from Amablazon.

I have come to the conclusion that automatic spell checks software is written by folks whose use to be clerical staff assigned to Engineering groups seeking revenge for being subjected to technical based writing.

Read/watched another review of a partial hybrid vehicle. Seems like a very good work around various fossil fuel restriction mandates being imposed on the State wide level like over here.

I did not try to get out and mow grass again today, the wind is really strong and it's blowing clouds of dust everywhere. Already sneezing and hacking, decided to just wait. Got nuttin but time anyways. Last night was one of those toss and turn sleep in spurts dream a while wake up and worry about stuff nights. Let it get a little too cool in the house yesterday afternoon and had to close the windows and plug in the old electric heater for a few hours to knock off the chill. Cats were horded around the heater, they love that warmth. Won't be much longer I'll have to blow the dust out of the gas heater and fire up the pilot.
I was being lazy today trying to let the pained nerves adjust to the new drugs when I received a text that FedEx had delivered my new gun to the designated local gun shop. I figured it would be tomorrow before they called me. A few minutes after the text, my phone rang. It was the gun shop telling me my gun was there and ready for pick up whenever I was ready. Of course I went immediately. About 10 minutes in and out of the gun shop. They had no customers and NICS passed really quick.

I used the Vortex 4-16x42mm scope from my 457 Scout. It shall remain unscoped since it has open sights to use. I replaced the plastic magwell, spacer, and mag release with DIP metal ones, then adjusted the trigger down to 2 lbs. That’s as light as it would go.

Time for some supper, then Spencer. He’s been trying to hop up on me since I came out of my gun room. Poor guy!

Didn't have time to make the shack run and be back in time to tend grilling babybacks for an hr.. They was good. Blew 220 beans on grub essentials while managing to tear a hole in the top of the hand skin on the sharp bottom corner of a price tag while pulling out frozen veggies. Blue air and a hanky kept the blood flow down enough till I got home. sigh! It could probably use a stitch but I'm still a jarhead albeit a bit thin skinned. Bumped into the shack lawn cutter and they took the rest of the BY apples. yay! Only the FY apples to go and they will take em next Thur if I get em ready to go before my big day.
Cleaned up 3# or so of deer poop and dumped it by the curb thus giving the city back it's deer poop and took a nap before donning my apron @ the grill. Its a figure of speech Splatz as I wear the pants in the house, sometimes.

Chippy #29 is toast @ 55º Murican.

Plenty good day today. Temp topped out at 80. Got a lot of trimming done in the back and all ofvit bagged for transfer to the street for bulk pick up next week. Wheeled trash bin was duly loaded to capacity plus and found empty later in the day. Residual ankle pain is still present, if I think about it or poke it; however, staying busy, I didn't notice it much. Werks for me. Have some chain-sawing that needs to be done in the back, but it won't necessitate any climbing or take much time. It's on the list. Wanting to get a flat of those throw-away ¾oz 9's loaded like I shot yesterday to finish the skeet league with. That too is on the list as is loading up more 1oz. #7.5's in throw-away hulls for the up-coming Fun Shoot's main event sporty targets this weekend. I'll shoot new AA Super Sporting 9/8's oz. 7.5's in the shoot off for the pot, assuming that I qualify, and use a Briley extended IM choke in a 391 Beretta Super Sport. That combination has served me well in the past and it throws some very dense patterns for those 'way out there' targets. Will probably shoot the old reliable 686 Onyx w/some nicks in its butt stock [reminders of some fantastic days spent afield in the company of good men and dogs in one of those infrequent years spent moving lots of native birds] in the main event w/IC & MOD chokes or go MOD & MOD and not worry about it... or give it a second thot.

Bride & I both stopped werk a bit after 4 as we'd been busy most of the day in making things tidier in the back with LOTS of trimming. We played one
Hollywood that I won. She wanted another go, but I made her stop and get another glass of her wine while I fixed a nice salad for us and then we went at it again. She lost that one too. I made my own dinner...

of previously grilled marinated yard bird Q's from the fridge. Had two and was very glad that they were handy.

Plan to be up early tomorrow and get more yard stuff done, take some time for end of the month routine financial & utility Czech's verifying credit balance health, so I won't get caught or blind-sided from not paying sufficient attention to who is billing me how much and for what. The usual stuff that goes with living in town... or anywhere, anymore. I'd much prefer to be outside, playing in the dirt, catching a fish or shooting with this long overdue and fall hinting break in the weather. Gosh, it was so pleasant today that I'd almost forgotten what that felt like.
