WELCOME TO THE WATERING HOLE

A stress-free place to gather and share whatever is on your mind! A fun place of mutual respect where you can hang your hat, vent, relax and shoot the bull for a while!

Happy Easter to all who celebrate that faith.

To all others, Happy Spring!

Easter symbolizes a new beginning, so it is fitting that TWH has a new beginning as well!
Along with RFC, TWH has been remodeled!

Actually, it can be anything you imagine it to be!

I am happy to announce that due to the increased bandwidth of the new RFC, there is no longer a need for the weekly closing and re-opening of TWH!!! After 10+ years of weekly "flipping" we now get to keep the doors open continuously! My sincere thanks to our moderators, especially Sophia, for making this possible!

I would also like to thank all the members who have kept this boat afloat for so long! We have become like family here, and now have a permanent residence! (y) While we have many long-time members who have been enjoying the company found in this amazing virtual bar, we also welcome all new folks. Jump right in! The first drink is always on the house and Veterans always have an open bar!
Al The Infidel (Tubby Slayer extraordinaire) is the bar manager.

So, let's get this re-opening celebration going! Set 'em up, Al! Drinks all around!!!

Well

My day was interesting.

I'm now in the market for something chambered in 9X19. Seems I have a surplus of ammunition, . . .
May I be the first to say "If you have too many, I'll gladly lighten your load...." :D

I won't advise on which particular beast you should look at, but i will say I love my P210.

It’s been a couple weeks since checking in, it’s been real busy with growers planting in between rain storms and mushroom hunting. So far about 200 morel. Here are a couple photos of the equipment one of growers I’m working with is using. A far cry from the 6 row plant grandpa used.

Brian great photos with the grandkids.

Wook like your price baiting fiasco. I have a postal money order floating around somewhere that was sent within state a month ago. Local postal manager first told me thirty days before paying a fee for researching then wait another sixty days while they decide if I get a refund. At thirty days she then told me wait sixty days to file and another sixty for refund, maybe.
I was armed and ready as I had just called the accounting department with knowledge that if not received in ten days I could pay the fee and file. Generally refund is issued same day according to the people that write the checks for USPS. Local manager did not believe me when I told them I went to the top. Emailed accounting this time and had same answer as before that was via phone. Note attached to call regional postal inspector if they refuse to work with me, phone number included.
I printed off letter and brought it to them the following morning. While asking again for the form they again told me sixty days. My letter was then handed over. Cashier disappeared with my letter to a very apologetic manager seeing as heads could roll if not compliant with policy.
Stand firm and don’t hesitate to take it to the top as the customer is always right!

During the last century the local postmaster gave me a bunch of nonsense because I filed a complaint about their one delivery person who was playing bumper cars with her delivery vehicle and my garbage cans which in no way were hampering her ability to deliver mail. Guess he and she had a thing going so he as majorly covering for her. 🤔 I then filed a complaint with the Senator representing our State on the national level about the matter. A few days later got a knock on the door and it was that postmaster standing there at my doorstep with hat in hand and apologizing for everything. Moral of this story is if all else fails go to the top for resolution. 😀

One of youtube channels I’ll sometimes watch is Laura Farms and the cab of her JD looks much like the one in your picture, mdew.

Some pretty brisk winds in the Midwest right now. It’s just about this time of the year when a D-Day reinactment is held in N/E Oklahoma that I’ve attended numerous times in the past. Guess this part of our nation has tornadoes whereas over here we have earthquakes.

Pretty soon the cabs of our daily driver will look much like that as it takes over driving for you. Will cost about as much also.
Al,

I'd rather spend it much more slowly and eat what farmers produce.

Goodnight AZ.
Mornin',

55 misty, damp, breezy degrees. Clouds, some sun, east breeze, high around 67.

Short office day, headed to the farm to get some things done before several rounds of wet weather starting tonight through Sunday. We need the rain and it appears to come a little at a time, perfect situation.

Spent another hour with the doctor's office and insurance company. Finger pointing at its best. Let's see if things go right this time.

The amount of electronics involved in planters is almost unimaginable. Such precision. Then combine the electronics of a modern day tractor. When I was young, we greased the 4 row planter, filled the fertilizer bins from bags, dumped in seed corn and off you went. Pull the rope to set it down, pull the rope to pick it up. Refill the fertilizer bins a dozen times a day. Lord only knows how much fertilizer dust I breathed in; include planting wheat in the fall.

Have a great day.

Good morning all!!!

Toiling on a drizzy morning. It's supposed to clear up in time for the first day of my golf league later today! Looking forward to getting out there.
I had to miss last season because I was out for repairs. I doubt I will play well, but we shall see!

Have a great day everyone!

Grandpa's tractor looked something like this:

Tire Wheel Vehicle Plant Automotive tire

His son, my uncles, first tractor was a '59 Deere. I think a 430.

Were I younger I'd give some thought to hiring migrants to sow and harvest.:p

Going to the top;
when in VN one of the options was putting my wages "on the books", taking whatever pocket change, then collecting it all when going home while thinking positive in the meat grinder eh? If ya couldn't trust Uncle I mean who could ya trust yano? Silly boy, while still hospitalized I requested my hard earned wages that mysteriously went poof according to REMFs.:mad: It took my congressman to get but 1/2 back. I quit voting until Hollywoods Bonzo wanted/went to go to the WH. shaking head icon

Gonna be buggy again Lon.... 40º on the button

Bug weather, yup Ticks according to the young feller I chatted with on the river yesterday. He said he removed thirty from himself in the couple hours he was there.
Breda had her medicine on and normally I spray my pant legs with permethrin but not this time. None on me and spritzed the pup with tick spray before bringing her in. They flock to some people or critters more than others. Light complexion and thin skinned seems to be the norm.
More driving come Thursday as D1 wants to take pictures missed during commencement. Neither of us have explored north of Marquette to the Huron Club but have come in from the Huron Mountain side. Wanted to check out the Yellow Dog river anyways. Very few places left I haven’t explored in the better part of Michigan. If there’s roads or two tracks I’ve been there. Always enjoyed poking around finding the road less traveled so need to bring in the map book to study.
Just picked up another gallon of the better put on your most raggedy arse pants with this stuff spray n pray bleach.
I'm not sure what is up with this new kinder / gentler bleach but it doesn't stand up to the thousand points of light test. Sunlight kills it.

Thousand points, millions points or billions and billions points - the sunlight here is starting to kick in fairly hard. We are in the middle of a 'yard cleanup'. The 2 things wearing people out are the brightness and breeze. Every bucket load of metal, moving of excavator or other equipt. kicks up much dust. The brightness of the sun off of stainless or aluminum takes it's toll. Excavators are particularly scary to work near. They move in so many axis so fast. Then with 3 pieces of equipment moving best bet is to know and live 'distance is your friend'.

We'll worry about the radiation later. Some scrap is 'hot'.
