WELCOME TO THE WATERING HOLE

A stress-free place to gather and share whatever is on your mind! A fun place of mutual respect where you can hang your hat, vent, relax and shoot the bull for a while!

Happy Easter to all who celebrate that faith.

To all others, Happy Spring!

Easter symbolizes a new beginning, so it is fitting that TWH has a new beginning as well!
Along with RFC, TWH has been remodeled!

Actually, it can be anything you imagine it to be!

I am happy to announce that due to the increased bandwidth of the new RFC, there is no longer a need for the weekly closing and re-opening of TWH!!! After 10+ years of weekly "flipping" we now get to keep the doors open continuously! My sincere thanks to our moderators, especially Sophia, for making this possible!

I would also like to thank all the members who have kept this boat afloat for so long! We have become like family here, and now have a permanent residence! (y) While we have many long-time members who have been enjoying the company found in this amazing virtual bar, we also welcome all new folks. Jump right in! The first drink is always on the house and Veterans always have an open bar!
Al The Infidel (Tubby Slayer extraordinaire) is the bar manager.

So, let's get this re-opening celebration going! Set 'em up, Al! Drinks all around!!!

Happy Friday!!

We went to the river then over to the south park.
Took some pictures...

A little shopping, dinner and a nap :)

Got my pix down from 288 to 43 on the first go-round.

Love the picture of the engine. Would like to see an up close shot of the turbine fan blades.
So, does a jet get pushed or pulled through the air?
Walked into the LGS just to get out of the house, brought home a Howa Hunter walnut in .30-06 with threaded barrel, part of the grand plan to move to threaded/suppressor shooting as much as possible, will be selling off my Tikka T3 Hunter in .308 and my Mauser 2000 in .30-06 as I'd hate to mess them up by threading them. Plenty of '06 ammo on hand. This gives me the 6.5 CM Ruger and the Howa for most game and I may have my 527 Varmint .223 threaded as well. Anxious to see how well the '06 suppresses the 6.5 CM does well.

Its a better day ,here, in the Valley today. I,m finally getting on top of whatever crud clogged up my head & chest.Coughing has slowed and is not as violent.Overnight temps have been in the 30s,so that has slowed the pollen production.
Will need gas (up 10cents) to finish mowing what I started last week. Some of it is ready to be cut for hay.It may rain overnight.

Nice rifle. Beautiful stock.

Survived the stress test. Was home about 2 hours when alerted to the results. Tests indicated no problems whatsoever. About 5 hours of time and $19 for parking to confirm there's nothing to worry about. My primary sent me a message telling me she's pleased with the results, but wants to see me in a couple of months. My "couple of months" is going to be something like August or September.

Getting ready to hit the gun show this morning. No high expectations. Want to browse what's out there and to see how crazy the prices have gotten.

There is a lot of wood in this joint. Superior Dome
Bud whose ashes I carried, said all his union brothers had blisters the first day beating on nails thru 2" wood.

Nice wood of course too Gerald.

Turkey season over Gobb?

Called the store near the shack and got em to save us fresh, made this am, couple pasties as they go fast. They rank in the top 3 or better of the best ever had. They even make chicken ones when the touristas arrive.

over n out!

This is about the best pic. Right from the bow-wing parking lot. 737s are made here.
The body of the plane is made in China, the wings, the tail assembly and the engines go on here.

A plane a day seems to keep them busy...

Saw my eye Dr yesterday for the day after exam after having the cataract removed and a lens implanted. Everything went very well, didn’t need to take the recommended Tylenol since I hardly felt a thing after the surgery. Only thing I could remember about while the operation was taking place was when the Dr inserted the thingamajig that broke up the lens for removal. It was some sort of sonic tool that broke the lens into pieces. I could feel it vibrate but that was about all. They had slipped me a Mickey of that stuff refered to as ‘milk of amnesia’. Anyway, my vision yesterday checked out as 20/25. That was a good improvement since the last time it was 20/150. I also looked through a scope today and it looks almost normal, just a slight bend at the left edge of the horizontal crosshair. The left eye gets done in 2 weeks. I’m feeling good about the whole process.

…Grrr! Finn says read the manual. Pshaw!
Women just don’t understand. Why, you could get your man card revoked for reading the manual. Or consulting a map for that matter. Never seen one that knew a whit about dead reckoning. 🧐

That’s a nice stock Gerald. (y)

Well at least she’s done and graduated Magna Cum Laude, she wants to get outta here but will stay with her hotel job until August I guess.
Highlight of speeches was a NASA scientist that carried on for forty five minutes about the Hubble telescope. We nodded off as a group.

Coughing had no effect on people getting too close.
Tikka and scope are sold, that didn't take long...

Picked up another PCP that I wan't looking for, Benjamin Marauder in as new condition with box papers etal, 10 tins of various pellets, Scuba tank adapter, UTG 30mm 4-16x scope with side wheel, sunshade etal for a staggering $395. Club had a "swap meet, sale" today. Some interesting stuff there and a couple of real characters as well, had fun.

Gerald-
You seem to have a lucky horseshoe up in your bidness with all these LGS gems you always "find". Are you just lucky? Or do you have shop owners on the lookout for things that would match your taste?

Pure dumb luck and spending a lot of time in the shops, can't find 'em if you're not there. 😉 Did you see the deal on the Benjamin Marauder?

No, I didn't- Did you pick one up?

Also- If that new acquisition is a shooter, might be worth a refinish on that stock. There is a lot more figure than the current finish is showing. I know you know that, just an observation.

Check out post 875, heck of a deal in my opinion... (y)

that is a heck of a deal. Between my Daystate Regal .177, AEA Challenger 22, and my Artemis M11 .25, I've got my PCPs covered. However, if I ran into a deal like that, I might just buy it and turn it for a profit on the GTA forum 😉👍🏻😁
